Going from the bg3 fandom to the dragon age fandom was. Certainly. An experience. More specifically as someone who loves the emperor (that’s my wife I don’t play about her) but dgaf about solas/actively dislikes his actions.
Bc okay. The emperor is like, mostly chill, all things considered. And as long as you do essentially the bare minimum (kill the brain) and aren’t like. Threatening his life. Everything is fine. If you choose him over Orpheus he’ll fuck right off after the brain is killed and doesn’t bother you again. All he does is send a note being like “yeah you’re chill thanks for everything and all that”. While a lot of the questionable/bad shit he does do is 1. Easy to apply actual reasoning to, and see from his perspective why he thinks he has to do that or 2. Isn’t rlly that bad when you have the other bg3 companions for comparison frankly. Yet despite all this, the WHOLE FUCKING FANDOM HATESSSS HIM OUTSIDE OF TUMBLR. NO NUANCED DISCUSSION AT ALLLLLL. They can’t be viewed as anything BUT a heartless villain who only wants to manipulate you.
Then you have fucking golf ball McGee over in dragon age where so much shit is his fault, he’s manipulated and used 2/4 dragon age protagonists for his own gain, MANIPULATING ROOK IN PARTICULAR IN SUCH A CRUEL WAY, has caused hundreds if not thousands of people to die with his actions, has killed multiple of his friends and allies for daring to even care about the people of Thedas, and so SO much more. All for the fandom to, by majority, defend tf out of him and fall for his bullshit over and over and over again. Like are we serious.
Like obviously it’s ‘pretty privilege’ (though in my humble opinion, tentacles are sexier than just bald skin but whatever), but it’s also like. Are none of you reading or paying attention to what you see and hear AT ALL???? I know we’re in a literacy crisis and all but GODDAMN GUYS PLEASE. JUST READ EVEN A LITTLE BIT.
