top 5 fandoms (just in general)
Ask me my Top 5 of whatever you want!
The ranking of this is definitely very much a now thing, because the order of my Top 5 shifts around depending on what hyperfixation comes about, as do some of the fandoms. Many have been so for years, others have shifted around a lot
1. The West Wing. I am so very obsessed with this show. I adore so much of it and there's so much in the Canon that can be dug into and just thought through. It's also had a lot of influence on how I feel like I kind of interact with the world and myself because of the way it pushed me to become more invested in politics and law and all that comes with it and has helped me see that I want to do more with that. I also just adore the characters (with all their flaws) because they're all so interesting. I also just love how the Fandom is so like widespread but also pretty small. It's also one of the most kind of calm fandoms I feel like I've been in, at least in terms of how different fans interact with each other.
2. All For The Game. I absolutely adore these books and their characters. I have loved them since the first time I read them all in the span of a couple days all way back in quarantine and I continue to adore them and the Fandom that comes with it. These books got me to play Lacrosse and find a passion for something I never expected. There's just something about the way the books are written to show that people are flawed and that those flaws and trauma do not make a person good or bad, it makes them human. And also just the very real way they all heal, with the trauma still staying with them. Like. I could talk about these books for literal hours (and I have many times). If you haven't read them, I recommend them so much. But also heed the trigger warnings as there are a lot.
3. Red, White, and Royal Blue. There's just something about the mix of politics and romance and the deep root of trauma and mental struggle in this book that just gets me. Truly, every time I reread this book (which is nearing the double digits at this point, if it isn't already there) I find more things I love about it and it's characters. Like there's just something so captivating in the emotional impact of all of their different struggles and how they handle them while also living very public lives. Also the way that it doesn't portray love as some way of "fixing" mental health struggles, but as (every form of) love being something that can be there with you in it. Again with the I could talk about this for hours if I go into more specifics. (Also, just anything Casey Mcquiston writes is amazing and I adore them)
4. Percy Jackson. These books shaped so, so much of my childhood and I continue to hold them close to my heart to this day. There's just something so healing in seeing representation of parts of yourself you aren't even fully aware of yet and feeling seen, then looking back and understanding why it felt that way. These books and so much of the community I've found in them (particularly when I was younger) is just so important to me, not to mention the characters who i love with all my heart. Even though I'm not very active in the Fandom rn, it will probably remain in my top for a long time simply because how much it has impacted me.
5. Supernatural. As wild as this show and this Fandom is, it genuinely helped me through a very difficult part of high school. Despite a lot of its flaws, I love this show so much, especially its characters. The way that found family plays such an important role in the entire series despite its "focus" being on fighting various monsters is just something that I love. Also (even though much of it is likely not purposeful) the way it treats aspects of religion kind of just stuck out to me as someone who grew up really religious and then didn't quite know what to do with a lot of it as I grew up and understood myself more (similarly to how I felt watching Good Omens). This show is alsp mostly just what properly drew me into Fandom outside of just fanfics.
Absolutely no one ever asked for this but I have a gif archive blog with every gifset I have ever posted to Tumblr since 2013 @solarprestige-agammon
So if for some reason you ever want to know what i've giffed from certain tv shows/episodes/movies you can use the indexes to find what you're looking for (because i kind of make a shit-ton of gifs)
