EPIC: The Musical!Odysseus Agere Moodboard :33

I love love love epic the musical rn and I think Ody would def be a Regressor

!!Headcanons under the cut:

TW? - Slight talk of death/grieving/loss, war, impure regression, and just general mentions of Odysseus’ trauma

3-4 age range

Mostly an impure/trauma Regressor, rarely does much other then cry when small

He doesn’t actually have any little gear, the little bit he does have is still in his bedroom all the way back in Ithaca

He’s kind of always regressed—mostly when he’s upset, but he never really had a name for it or knew what it was

Penelope usually helped him through it before he went off to war; she was rly rly understanding towards it

He began regressing a lot more frequently after the events of Just a Man, though

Polites would usually be the one to take care of him, just staying with him until he felt better

He made up silly little nicknames to call Ody, mostly just to make him laugh or smile

His favorite is ‘little soldier’

Polites would sometimes sing to him to help him calm down, and it became one of Ody’s favorite things in the world

Odysseus has huge separation anxiety when regressed, especially with Polites, and will get upset if he even thinks he’ll leave

So yeah his death messed Ody up a LOT.

Now he mainly just tries to sleep until he feels better, so he doesn’t have to think about everything that happened

Sometimes, when he has nightmares or can’t sleep, he’ll just curl up in bed and sing Open Arms to himself quietly, trying to calm himself down (which ends up just upsetting him more and he cries himself because of how much he misses Polites)

Towards the end of the Circe saga/beginning of the Underworld Saga, he was finally, finally starting to get over what happened in a way, and was becoming less depressed (not really, he was just so worried about the crap going on that it distracted him somewhat); But then, seeing him and his mom again in The Underworld basically just sent him back to square one

After Monster, he just locked himself in his cabin and cried, holding onto Polites’ headband, for days on end; no one could get him out

The one time that Eurylochus tried to coax Ody out of his room, he got yelled at

So yeah he never tried that again

That’s all I have for right now!! Might add to this as more of Epic comes out, but rn I only wrote up to the end of the Underworld Saga :)

Apologies if I missed you last week, I was not feeling très bien but am doing better now.

I've been feeling very sluggish with writing lately, Changing Tides Chapter 10 is now done but I need a bit of a break so I decided to start something new :) While making a post about Odile and Visdros's families, I became very inspired by Visdros mother Illnama and wanted to write about her. This is all headcanon as we know like 5 things about the Maormer, so really this is my sandbox and I'm gonna have fun <3 If you'd like more context I'd suggest checking out the family post right here, this snippet is about her first engagement. Under the cut for length:

“Are we almost done yet, Heclel?” 

“Done? Nama, we’ve barely begun.” And indeed they had, the black granite block he was carving from nearly completely resembled the stone slab it was purchased as, rather than a statue of Mother Sea. It was temple tradition, each time a new High Priestess took over as the embodiment of Mother Sea, a new figure would be carved; displayed in the head the Temple for as long as she led. Only once her daughter ascended to the role, would this one join the others in the Hall of Legacy. 

Illnama normally took great care with her role, as her mother’s eldest she grew up knowing that it would be her fate to one day lead the Temple, care for their people by relaying messages from their chief Goddess. Even when such a role was difficult, naval officers who only came by to seek a blessing before a battle; mysteriously absent they were during holidays. At least some pirate groups would offer a portion of their spoils in exchange for safe waters. The Maormer people seemed lost from her point of view, they had been even before they were a distinct group today. Their blue skin was once shades of gold, when they lived in a different land so long ago, before King Orgnum brought them here. Though the King may not consider Phyandonea home, their immortal ruler coveted the Altmer homeland, the glittering Summerset Isles, the people varied on that. Her role was not just one of religious devotion, she had a duty to the people to unify them. Let them remember that they are different, they know different gods, speak a different tongue. The Maormer are a people to stand in their own right, not only in the context of their enemies: they were more than a culture formed from opposition. This was a very important role. One to not be taken lightly. 

However, today she does, only slightly, her statue important but they had already been here for a few hours. The Goddess won’t care if it is not done in this instance; if she wants to spend time with the artist in a different capacity. For the mer sculpting her is not any ordinary artisan. Not only one with extremely skilled hands, midnight hair adorned with braids and silver, nor merely an impressive family lineage: he is also to be her High Priest. And as Heclel will be second in command only behind her, she exercised a bit of this authority now, the long white robe flung off to the side in a manner she’d chastise others for, and rushed to grab his arm.

“Illnama,” he said once he realized she left the pose and was in fact beside him now. “I promised your mother it would be done by month’s end.”

“And it will be.” A soft laugh coming out of her, a sound that was once scarce now in abundance. 

“Not if I don’t get time with my model.” 

“You are getting time with her, maybe even too much time.” 

It was uncommon to have your betrothed be a mer you already know, even more rare to have him be someone you know very well; from playing together as young children, growing into adulthood together. One who she pushed down her feelings for as she knew would be marrying whoever the divination decreed was fit. Her marriage more than securing familial ties. The future of the Temple, its leadership, her heirs, all more important than girlhood romantic afflictions. But, how lucky Illnama was that the two should coincide. 

“I’m afraid that is impossible, my darling. I will never get enough of you.” And he had felt the same. 

“Then you will take a break with me.” The mer chuckled, his shimmering silver eyes scrunched under his facial muscles, a sight she would never tire of. “Need I speak of the irony of you telling anyone to take a break?” Yet, despite the hypocrisy, he followed as she clutched his hand, pulled him towards the lagoon.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I have a memory of Jorge saying that Epic!Calypso didn’t force herself on Ody like in the books, and the reason that he can’t get away from the island is that it was enchanted by the gods so no one could leave… so what is Calypso guilty of expect being a lil weird to the first person she ever had interactions with?

Edit (just in case): I’m not saying she’s free of blame because she does say in “not sorry for loving you” that she “pushed him” and “came on too strong”, so there’s at least that
