Where, upon closing his eyes for the last time, Tom Kazansky hopes he can finally rest in peace for a good while. To which life replies by having him open his eyes again in the year 1986—weeks (?) before Goose’s death.
[Ice thinks he can hear the laughter of whoever is behind all this. No, he hasn’t lost his mind. It’s just that one night, he went to sleep knowing it was his last, and then he woke up over thirty years in the past.]
In front of him lies the path that led to everything that happened the first time around. He also sees a chance to rewrite the ending of a story he’s already lived, to make sure things don’t unfold the same way again. There’s no need for deep analysis—he already knows which option he’ll choose.
[And if the sudden shift in his attitude draws attention—especially from a certain green-eyed gremlin—well. Ice has never been one to complain.]
I started this about. Halfway through my Baldur's Gate playthrough? The WIP title was, and still is, "Wishful Thinking". And you know what? It's canon for me! :D
(I'll ramble about my headcannons for the future under the cut. Also, detail shot!)
Lae'zel left the party to bring Orpheus' words and hope to the githyanki, and though a revolution is never easy, I do believe that she can make significant change. Especially considering Ael'nar will absolutely help as soon as they've figured out Karlach's engine troubles.
In the meantime, it's going to be a lot of back and forth to raise Xan as happily and safely as this group of dumbasses can. Thankfully Wyll's learned a lot since he got turned into a devil, and he's starting the get the hang of Plane Shift.
And today, that means flight lessons with mom!
I spent far too long deciding which color to put in Xan's hair, went through the whole colour wheel- blue suits them though. Also it doesn't show nearly as much with the lighting, but he is a slightly different shade than Lae'zel! Since he's from a different crèche, they're slightly greener and their scales are a touch more vivid where Lae'zel's are black.
Other important (to me) details here:
Lae'zel is not wearing her war paint, and she isn't armed despite wearing her scabbard. That's because this is a flight lesson and she trusts all three dragons around to protect them- they are not riding into battle.
(The three dragons being Quulos, Quuthos and the lovely little lad they're on, which i have yet to name and who is Xan's companion)
Her earrings are very, very significant! The first one, silver and amethyst, is for Ael'nar and is in the githyanki style, although she had to get creative to find someone who could make jewelry and not battlewear. The second, steel and sapphire, is for Shadowheart and the back of it is made to look like Selunite apparel. The last one, infernal iron and ruby, is for Karlach and it's a bit simpler than the others, mostly because the metal is pretty hard to work.
The earrings are her way of bringing her family with her, no matter where she goes. She normally brings other gems / tokens for the rest of the extended family with her, but those are on her armor, sword and quiver so, not here today.
The belt sash / drape is voluntarily long to dramatically flap in the wind when she flies. She is, after all, the Comet, now that Orpheus is gone. And yes the writing is actual tir'su, it spells out Orpheus!
