IF I SAID FLAMBAE AND ROBERT WERE TOO SWEET BY HOZIER CODED.
If you say that then maybe I’ll say I agree with you 👀
I was actually kinda shocked because right after seeing this ask, I went to check my Flambert playlist, and this song wasn’t even there yet (it is now, btw). I don’t deeply know Hozier’s intentions with this one, so everything I’m saying is just based on how > I < interpret it as Flambert coded. And even tho I can genuinely see this song fitting both of them at diff points in their lives, for this post I’m looking at it from Robert’s pov.
Flambae’s the one with the put-together lifestyle here. Sleeps early, wakes up early, actually takes care of what he eats and his body. Worries about the people he keeps close. He’s doing well at work because he genuinely works hard for it.
Meanwhile Robert’s still living a reckless lifestyle. Horrible sleep schedule, definitely doesn’t eat right, basically surviving on cheap coffee, bad whiskey and processed food while he tries to get back to working out like he used to.
So one night at the club, Robert’s sitting alone in a corner with a drink in his hand, watching part of the Z-Team dance — but his eyes keep landing on Flambae. And even in his own head he can’t fully name what he’s feeling. He doesn’t even know if it’s just jealousy.
He wants to be like that. He wants to live something closer to what Flambae’s living now. He wants to eat well, work out properly, all that stuff. He wants to live right like Flambae does.
He definitely doesn’t want Flambae making him live the right way, tho. Definitely doesn’t want Flambae around more and more, nagging him and making him eat right. Definitely doesn’t want to share a routine with him. Doesn’t want him showing him how — or what — to do. Or teaching him how to sleep so well.
He definitely doesn’t want to be handled or controlled by Flambae.
