Y’all. Star Wars Celebration was everything I’d always hoped it would be. Still fighting back tears when I think of how for 5 days, all the anxiety and crap I’ve been dealing with just evaporated, and I was with thousands of people who are all my family, surrounded by love, passion, acceptance, and the purest joy as we celebrated this story that means so very much to all of us. It was like coming home. I never wanted it to end, and it’s hard knowing I probably won’t make it next year. But I know someday I will come back home again.

Thank you to all the amazing people that made it feel like that. I made many new friends and met old ones for the first time. I got to represent my hero Leia all week through my cosplay, and I was deeply touched by the interactions I had, particularly with the many little girls I met with stars in their eyes and fierceness in their hearts.

There are so many memories, big and small, that I will never forget. The little girl who couldn’t stop turning around to tell Leia goodbye. Being a part of my first Rebel Legion photo. Watching the trailer for The Rise of Skywalker with thousands of other fans, tears of joy welling and knowing I’m not alone. Lightsabers for Leia, and Carrie’s memory honored in so many other ways. Someone telling me I was like the reincarnation of her (I cried).

The magical, surreal snowfall on Sunday. The epic lightsaber battle at the Bean. Feeling the force of sisterhood and the love and acceptance for everyone at the Sisters of the Force panel with Ashley Eckstein, and getting to go onstage with other female cosplayers for a picture with her beforehand. Feeling fierce and badass as I debuted my Huttslayer/Sandstorm Leia, and having my comic book Leia finally be recognized. Getting filmed for the Looking for Leia b-roll.

Seeing so many stars and other awesome & inspiring people live on the Star Wars show stage. Meeting Andi Gutierrez, who truly lived up to her new 501st honorary membership as she so patiently signed things for us fans as it was all closing down. Re-enacting scenes with other cosplayers (including a fantastic Tarkin and Vader). Running into Matt Martin and AJ Camarillo as we left and getting to thank them.

The energy and love and joy and wonder of thousands of people coming together as one big family.

It may be over, but I’ll never be the same.
