I hear advice from the older generation that “buying a house is an investment”. On one level, I get that. Buying a house is a better way to spend money than renting, because at the end, you have something. You have a whole frigging house. On another level, I think that the idea that home prices should outpace inflation is insane and maybe has broken modern society.

Anyone see the thing about Cooper leaving already? His character is only getting a 3-episode-arc? I’m confused why they keep booting the newbies before giving them a chance

What’s you’re impression of Cooper so far on PD? I found him a little sanctimonious, but that could also be a newbie thing maybe?

Hey anon! I feel like we don’t know him that well, but he seems like he could be a really interesting addition! He adds some fresh blood and a new perspective to Intelligence. I’m very curious as to what types of storylines the writers are going to have for this character and how he fits in with the team!

Wow, like this is a super late post, and I don't know why I didn't mention it before, but Kevin and Andre were adorable this epsiode! By that, I mean Kev basically being his mentor and Andre just totally following his lead and trusting him completely.

Just saw the last episode, and I found it very strange that not the whole team was there when they had a rookie going under, a guy Kevin was unsure could do it. I mean, where was Hailey and Jay, the two detectives on the team, home slacking on the counch maybe, weird. I am not sold on this new guy either, I don`t know if he is a good fit.

Ya know what Anon? You have a good point. I wonder why Hailey and Jay weren’t there either. It does seem pretty odd, although they weren’t expecting the rookie to go mobile? So maybe they thought they could do the job with four guys instead of six? I don’t know. That one might bug me now unless we missed something in the episode.

As for the new guy, I think he could be a good fit if he’s molded right. He’s just so new and naive and such a rookie, and he’s only just recently seen the bad parts of policing. I think if he is shown the ropes and is mentored by the team he could become a great addition to the team and hopefully stick around. I do love his heart and the way he challenges Voight already, and he seems like such a smart, quick on his feet guy. He also seems to have a similar moral compass to Jay and Kevin which I really like seeing. I’m excited to see how it plays out with him.

What I loved about cooper was the “I just wanna know why” line when he went to see Wheelan after the shooting. He knew why but he was still choosing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I know this can be dangerous thinking in a way but I also feel like in a unit where seeing the best in people isn’t always easy he’ll bring a fresh perspective to the group so I’m excited to see if/how that plays out

I really like that he sees does not have the same perspective as the entire unit. We see this a lot in his first appearance and especially in the case in 8x09. The scene of Cooper’s that sticks to me is conversation between him and Kevin at the end of 8x09 where he says “I feel like we could have done better.” Because he has this really valid point that at the end of the day, innocent Black lives were destroyed due to the case. Through the entire case, he wanted to help Theo and Damari and he truly believed there could have been a way to solve the case without hurting them. And Kevin has this slightly different perspective that ultimately gets us to think about this important idea of what is the cost of the current way the police system operate.

Cooper really seems to have this heart that wants to help people and he is really concerned with justice and those characteristics make him such an interesting addition to Intelligence.I really hope that through the rest of the season, we keep seeing those different perspectives and keep watching the team have those conversations about seeing the best in people and justice and police reform. I really feel like this character can play such an important role in that.
