I got it. Are you sure? I got a tenant lawyer who owes me a favor. I can have patrol pick him up for trespassing. [yelling after Eva who's walking away] I can have my husband go over there and start talkin' to him about fire codes!
Pairings: Eventual Jay x reader, Hank Voight x Daughterfigure!reader, Trudy Platt x platonic!reader
Warnings: Small mention of blood, mentions of being lonely
I’m a little rusty with my writing so sorry if this is crappy, it was just an idea I had. Part 2 soon!
“I just pulled up to his house, i’ll text you as soon I know something. He’s probably just asleep on the couch again” Y/n says as she parks in front of the blue house.
“Okay, I just worry about him, he’s been going through a rough time” Trudy sighs on the other end of the phone, worried for her friend.
“I know, me too. “ Y/n says a little quieter, deep in thought “i’ll text you” she says again and they say their goodbyes before hanging up.
The y/h/c girl turns off the car and gets out, walking up to the front door to the house she has come so familiar with over the past 18 years.
Taking out the key that Hank had given her years ago she unlocks the door and walks in, the house is dark, looking as if no ones home.
“Hank?!” She calls through the house, shutting the door.
Y/n takes notice of the shoes by the door and frowns, he’s definetely here.
“Hank?” She calls again as she walks down the hall. When she peeks into the living room, her frown only deepens when she sees the older man asleep on the couch, looking very uncomfortable and bags under his eyes.
Y/n sighs before walking over to the couch, kneeling in front of him as she grabs his arm and shakes him.
“Hank” she says his name again, trying to wake him gently.
Nothing.
“Hank, come on” she says again, shaking him a little harder.
Hank wakes with a start, his eyes jumping open and with a gasp.
“It’s just me, it’s just Y/n” Y/n says softly, putting her hands up as if to show no threat.
Hank is confused for a second before visibly relaxing at the sight of the younger woman.
“Y/n? What are you doing here? What time is it?” He asks in his raspy voice, looking around.
“11 in the morning. Trudy called, she said you hadn’t shown up to work, they assumed you might be handling a personal matter but when you weren’t answering anyone, they got worried.” She pauses looking around the room “which is why they called in the calvary” she adds jokingly.
Hank chuckles as he sits up “you’re the calvary?” He asks in a teasing tone.
“When it comes to you I am. Me and Trudy are probably the only people you wouldn’t murder for waking you up” Y/n says truthfully, walking over to the curtains and opening them, letting some sunlight in.
She stands there looking around the house with pursed lips “wasn’t i just here like a week ago?” She asks rhetorically, looking around at the mess.
“I havent really had time to do much” Hank says with a grunt as he starts to head upstairs.
Y/n watches as he goes upstairs, before making her way to the kitchen. Peeking in the cabinets and fridge.
Empty.
So he hasn’t been eating much again.
She knew Hank got like this sometimes when things happened. Like when Camille died. When Justin died. When Erin left. When Al died.
The Intelligence team recently had a tough case, which Hank was beating himself up for. She knew that but didn’t realize it was this bad. Not again.
Hank comes back down the stairs, in a different long sleeve shirt and jeans, throwing on his jacket and slipping into his shoes.
“I’m gonna hang around for a bit here, its my day off and i’ve got nothing else to do” Y/n tells Hank and Hank nods “it’s your home to y’know” he tells her with a smile.
“You better get going before Trudy shows up” she says with a smirk on his face and Hank laughs, knowing its true, he bids the girl a quick goodbye before rushing out of the door.
“Okay…lets get to work” Y/n sighs, speaking under her breath as she looks around the house.
—————
It’s around 2 in the afternoon when Y/N finishes cleaning the house and doing Hank’s laundry and placing it on his bed neatly folded.
It was something she always did when she knew Hank was having a hard time, after all they were all each other had.
It wasn’t something taken for granted but every now and then when Hank was going through a rough time, she would come to the house, clean up. Restock the fridge and pantry, because she knew he wouldn’t, and make sure he had some company.
Hank was never one to ask for help and neither was Y/n, except for when she walked into the police station 18 years ago with blood covering her clothes and Hank and Camille took her in.
Y/N gathers her things before heading out of the house and driving off to the local sandwich shop, deciding to surprise Hank with lunch, knowing full well he didn’t eat anything.
After grabbing the sandwiches, and coffees of course because who doesn’t need a little afternoon caffeine, she heads to the district.
—————
“Well, to what do I owe this pleasure?” Trudy asks with a big smile as Y/N enters the district with the food and coffee.
“Well” she starts, placing the coffee tray and bag of food down “I thought I would surprise my favorite people with lunch and coffee” Y/N smiles, sliding Trudy’s coffee and sandwich towards her “from Tommy’s of course”.
“You are my absolute favorite person, don’t tell my husband” Trudy whispers, making Y/n laugh.
“What mouch doesn’t know won’t hurt him” she plays along, Trudy laughing with her.
Trudy looks at the nearest officer, grabbing his arm and scaring the piss out of him “watch the desk, and don’t touch my sandwich” she practically growls the last part and Y/n is shocked the officer doesn’t pass out.
“Come on, i’ll walk you up” Trudy says with a smile, guiding Y/n to the stairs.
“You know I haven’t been upstairs since old days, when Hank first started with the unit” Y/n says, remembering the days it was just Erin, Al and Antonio.
“Alots changed” Trudy says a hint amusement and sadness in her tone.
Y/n nods as they walk upstairs “Oh i’ve heard the stories” Y/n chuckles, thinking about the many stories she has heard from Hank.
“Looks like the teams out, Hank is probably in his office” Trudy walks up to the door, knocking.
They wait a moment before a rough “come in” is heard from the other side.
Trudy opens the door for Y/n and Hank looks up with a surprised look “Someone decided to grace us with her presence, and lunch” Trudy says with a happy smile on her face “I’ll leave you guys alone, i’ll see you later Y/n, thanks again”
“Anytime!” Y/n smiles at Trudy before she makes her way downstairs.
“Is this a checking in on me thing?” Hank asks suspiciously.
Y/n rolls her eyes “this is a I know you didn’t eat so I brought you lunch thing” she says with amusement as they sit down with their food.
“I’m going by the grocery store after this, need anything?” Y/n asks and Hank shakes his head “no, don’t think so”.
“Uh huh”
—————
A knock at the door cuts the lunch Y/n and Hank were having short before the door to his office opens to reveal a brunette woman about Y/n’s height.
“Sarge we got a lead we wanted to show you” the woman says, trying to not act surprised by the young woman in the office.
“Okay give me a minute” Hank says, the woman nods before shutting the door again.
“I guess that’s my que” Y/n says jokingly as she gathers her things “i’ll see you later?” She asks and Hank nods.
“Yeah, i’ll walk you out, thank you for lunch. It was a nice surprise” Hank says as he opens the door and Y/n smiles “it was nice coming up here again after all these years, will have to do it more often.”
It takes everything in the teams willpower to not ask who she is and they all watch their usually stone cold boss walk the younger woman downstairs, seeing that they are clearly close.
“Okay anyone know who that was?” Adam askss curiously, looking around.
A chorus of “no ideas” comes from the group except for a certain detective who looks like he’s day dreaming.
“Hello? Earth to Jay?” Hailey waves her hand in his face, snapping Jay out of whatever that was.
“Sorry- just—who was that?” He asks and a chorus of chuckles comes from the group.
Before they can say anything else, Voight is back upstairs and asking about their lead.
