I have never been more proud of a haircut than I am right now. I spent over an hour sculpting and constructing my clients hair to get every nook, cranny, curve, and line to be perfect. She's one of my favorite older clients. She typically just does a short cut pixie with a swoop bang. Today she brought in a picture and told me to be honest if I thought she was too old and crazy to do it. If anyone knows me, knows nothing is too crazy and no one is too old!! I was shocked by the image she showed me but was 100% for it. Knowing her hair texture and the shape of her head I customized the cut to work WITH her and not against her. I'm not the hairdresser that does exactly what you show me and send you on your way. I look at what I'm working with and how I should achieve the look that best fits YOU. I have always loved doing short cuts because they are a challenge for me and the one thing I absolutely could not understand in beauty school. I struggled. And struggled. To the point I was falling behind because my teacher wouldn't allow me to move on to the next cut until I understood why I didn't see the flaws in how I was cutting. One day after weeks of getting frustrated she worked with me one on one, and in that session, it just clicked. I figured out what I was doing wrong and how to acknowledge my mistakes and fix them. To this day short hair is a challenge, as you can't hide mistakes. And I love that challenge. I love that every short hair client needs a different approach. I have to understand the hair texture, how it falls, the shape of the head, the hairlines, and the shape of the face. No hair is one size fits all, but short hair is always uniquely based on the head you are working on.
