A-Z of Mannerisms/Behaviors

M. Muse: Does your character talk when they’re alone, or to inanimate objects?

Andreya: On occasion, but most of her dialogue are just thoughts—thoughts that move an hundred miles a second but rarely does she talk out loud to herself or objects (she's way too used to Elizabeth filling up the silence).

Elizabeth: Yes, literally always, even if there are other people in the room—she can be looking over a map with Meredith and start scolding her pen for jamming up and Meredith is just "can you please shut the hell up oh my god".

N. Necklace: Does your character have mannerisms based on the things they wear, such as pushing up their glasses or checking their watch?

Andreya: If her necklace is hanging loose, not tucked behind her shirt, she is always playing with the gem between her fingers, rolling it around, tugging on the chain. She usually keeps her hair up, but if it's down she tends to tuck it behind her ears by habit.

Elizabeth: She is always looping her curls around her fingers if not otherwise preoccupied, moves her ring around her hands and fingers (often wearing it as a wedding ring just Because), smoothes out her skirt every time she sits or stands.

W. Wiggle: How often does your character fidget? In what ways do they fidget?

Andreya: Not much of a fidgeter unless she's extremely bored or extremely stressed, and then she might play with her own hands, squeezing them together, wringing them, tugging absentmindedly at the front of her shirt.

Elizabeth: Fidgets always, playing with her hair, Andreya's or Theodore's hair, turning her earrings around in her ears, bouncing her knee or tapping her feet. Occasionally nibbles at her nails but doesn't bite them. She used to get in trouble for fidgeting so much when she was small and couldn't pay attention during lessons, but once she's focused on something she doesn't fidget as much.

G. Grow: Has your character picked up any mannerisms from other characters? Do they tend to imitate other people without realizing it?

Meredith picked up a lot of mannerisms from the previous Queen Aria during their four years of training, though since she's not around anymore Meredith isn't really aware of it. Tariq, Saoirse, and Marjorie, all of whom were around both of them, are very much aware of this and frequently talk about how Meredith scrunched her nose like Aria did or something similar—and Meredith would die of embarrassment if she knew.

And Then She Kissed Me | Andreya x Elizabeth

I wanted to write something very self-indulgent about my oldest OC ship, so I used a few prompts from the 50 Kissing Prompts and went to town. 

Note: Andreya is a nonbinary lesbian who uses she/they/he pronouns. They/them is used primarily in this fic!

Prompts Used: 22. A kiss that is leading to more, but is interrupted by a third party. + 50. A kiss, followed by more that trail down the jaw and neck.

Life aboard the Jagged Ruby was never boring, to say the least, as there was always something to do for even the newest member of the crew. And though Andreya was appreciative of their position as the Pirate Queen’s top gunner and fighter (second only to Saoirse, of course) it meant that they had even more duties to attend to than the average crew member.

If they weren’t maintaining the ship’s cannons and overseeing the care of their other weapons, they were training the greener members of the crew, putting their years of training as a knight to use as they instructed the other crew members on their fighting stances and techniques. It left them little time for their mind to wander elsewhere until the sun started to drop in the sky, but when their mind could wander, it always found its way to one subject every time.

Elizabeth, Andreya’s girlfriend, amongst other things, was the first thing they thought about when they woke up and the last thing they thought about when they went to sleep, and the only thing their mind wanted to think about when it wasn’t otherwise occupied. But with her duties as Meredith’s sailing master keeping her almost as busy, their paths rarely crossed during the day.

Andreya supposed that was for the best, as Elizabeth always found ways to distract them—not that they were complaining, but Meredith surely would as she wanted their routes plotted before it got any later in the trading season.

Unable to go check on Elizabeth when they were able to call the training to an end, Andreya found themself wandering below decks to the dining hall and the kitchen, hoping to grab a bite of fruit or bread to eat before dinner. A cheerful voice calling out to them and someone throwing themself at them surprised Andreya from their thoughts.

“Drew!”

Andreya stumbled on the steps but held themself upright, feeling their cheeks warm as they recognized the body pressed against them as Elizabeth. “L-Liza, you almost pushed me over.”

“Oops.” Elizabeth giggled, kissing Andreya’s cheek. “Sorry, honey.” She didn’t sound very sorry, and as her arms snaked around Andreya’s middle, fingers teasing under their shirt, they were sure she had sought them out with an ulterior motive in mind.

The dining hall was still blessedly empty, though Andreya figured it wouldn’t be that way for long. That didn’t stop Elizabeth from continuing to kiss Andreya, her lips trailing down their jaw and neck. Any other time they would have melted into her touch, but the sounds of the crew above and below them were too active for them to relax, not when anyone could walk in behind them.

Andreya bit their lip, hands resting over Elizabeth’s to slow her down, but she refused. “Liza—"

Elizabeth shushed them, one hand sliding further up under Andreya’s shirt to cup their breast, and they jumped. “Elizabeth!”

She pouted, pulling her hands away, and stepped down the stairs to stand in front of Andreya. “No one’s here! And I’ve barely seen you all day. You didn’t even stop by to say hello while Meredith and I were working on the maps.”

“I didn’t think she’d appreciate me coming in there while you were busy.” Andreya said, reaching out to take Elizabeth’s hand in theirs. “I did miss you though.”

“Oh, well, that’s a relief.” Elizabeth rolled her eyes but smiled at them. “At least you missed me.”

“I always miss you.”

Elizabeth hummed, standing on her toes to reach up and kiss Andreya’s lips. “I know.”

Andreya squeezed Elizabeth’s hand as she pulled them down the stairs and around the corner into a more private area of the hall by the kitchen. Elizabeth pressed them against the wall and kissed them again, her hands creeping under their shirt again.

“Liza,” Andreya whined under their breath. “What if someone comes in?”

Elizabeth’s warm brown eyes sparkled mischievously. “There’s enough time to hear someone come down those stairs and fix you up before we’re caught.” When Andreya whimpered in response she took that as permission to keep going, her hands sliding up to fondle their breasts, pinching their nipples lightly between her fingertips. “If you keep quiet.”

She smiled when their hands came to rest on the curve of her ass, pulling her closer. They kissed her, mostly, she suspected, to hide the soft moans that threatened to spill out from their lips as she continued to touch them. Keeping her eyes open, she watched the blush spread across their face, the way their dark eyebrows knit together, little intricate signs she had learned over the many, many years they had spent together.

Elizabeth broke away from the kiss, causing Andreya to blink at her in confusion until she ducked her head and started to nip at their collarbone, leaving a mark behind. They gasped, biting their lip, hands squeezing her ass as she sucked at their skin. She was trying to be good, trying to keep her marks below where Andreya’s shirt normally sat, but she also selfishly loved it when they had a mark just a bit too high to hide, that she could look at throughout the day.

Andreya knew that, and they could feel when her lips traveled up that distance, biting where it was sure to be seen by others later. They moaned, then quickly caught themself, cheeks flaring a darker red. Elizabeth giggled, pulling back to meet their eyes.

“You make the prettiest sounds, honey.”

They shook their head, struggling to look at her out of embarrassment. “You’re teasing me on purpose.”

“Maybe. It’s just so easy.” When they gave her an exasperated look, Elizabeth laughed, pulling her hands out from under their shirt to hold their face as she kissed them. They hummed against her lips but kissed her back, one of their hands shifting from her ass to her chest, and she smiled into the kiss as they gently squeezed her breast.

Everything about them was gentle, and she had always adored that. Even when she would spend afternoons watching them train to protect her when they were both much younger, leaving their hands rough and calloused, the way they helped her unlace her dresses was only ever gentle. It made her want to give everything she could back to them, even if they wouldn’t ask for anything. To anyone else, it looked like Andreya was the one wrapped around Elizabeth’s finger, but while that was certainly true, Elizabeth was just as much at the mercy of whatever Andreya wanted, and she loved it.

She put one of her hands on their hip, teasing the band of their pants, and was about to dive past it when another voice behind them caused them both to jump in shock.

“I know you two aren’t fixing to make love in my kitchen.”

Marjorie, the ship’s cook, stood to their side, her hand on her hip and eyes narrowed. Andreya almost choked, and Elizabeth was almost concerned that they would melt through the floor from mortification.

“Marj—we—I-I’m sorry—”

“I know it wasn’t your fault—” Marjorie said, with a pointed glare at Elizabeth, who smiled cheekily. “But you should at least indulge her elsewhere.”

Andreya wished there was a port hole they could throw themself out of. “Right, yes. I, um—"

“We’re sorry, Marjie,” Elizabeth said, with her best pout. “We’ll get out of your hair.” She took Andreya’s hand in hers and started pulling them back up the stairs to the main deck. “See you later!”

She heard Marjorie’s loud sigh as they ran, but before she could say anything else, they were gone, walking along the deck. The sun was almost completely set, and the crew was getting ready to settle down for the evening, but it was still busy, people bustling past them to finish the last of their duties before dinner was called.

“Elizabeth!” At the sound of Meredith’s voice, both Andreya and Elizabeth turned, seeing her at the helm with Tariq. She said something to him before stepping down to the deck and walking over to them. “I need you to take a look at something Saoirse pointed out on the maps in my quarters.”

“Okay! Right now?”

Meredith nodded, blowing a strand of fiery hair out of her face. “I’d rather settle this tonight than have to look at it again tomorrow. My eyes are starting to cross looking at those damn things.” She glanced down at their joined hands and rolled her eyes. “I’ll be in my quarters, Elizabeth.”

She started to walk away, and Elizabeth called after her. “I’ll be right there!”

Andreya brought Elizabeth’s hand up to their lips and kissed the back of it. “I suppose I’ll see you at dinner, then?”

Sighing, Elizabeth nodded. “I’ll see you at dinner.” She stole a quick kiss and smiled, walking backwards. “I miss you already.”

Andreya’s nose wrinkled as they grinned, waving at her. “I know.”

how did Theo get the scars on his face?

Oh boy lore time

So in my first few drafts of my fantasy novel the background is that there is a sickness that spreads through two kingdoms (yes yes plague/covid esque but my first draft was from like eight years ago) and Andreya, living in the outskirts of her kingdom, loses her father and her mother is sick

While her mother is slowly dying, Andreya finds a little boy in the forest by her home, seemingly either abandoned or an orphan but he is too young to give any information so she adopts him as her brother and they live together for a while (This is Theodore, but at the time, she called him by little nicknames and endearments)

Her mother dies eventually, leading Andreya to leave the house for a few days to try and find work in the closest village to bring back food, but while she is gone, scared and lonely Theo wanders off into the forest and is attacked by a bear, causing the scars on his face

He is rescued by a man who turns out to be the King of the neighboring kingdom who assumes Theo is alone and takes him in as his son, but when Andreya comes back home and he is missing, she assumes he was killed in her absence

She grows up thinking that she failed her brother and he died because of her, which is a big part of her becoming a knight in the first place

Theodore grows up with his fathers in the other kingdom, but a part of him remembers Andreya, even if he doesn’t remember her name or her face beyond green eyes and black hair

The background of the story keeps changing a bit in my head but I’m determined to keep this as concrete as possible — at the very least, Theo’s scars are always caused by the same thing, a bear attack

8. How did they lose their virginity?

Elizabeth and Andreya were each other’s “firsts” - happened during their later teen years when they were starting to spend less and less time together due to Drew’s training as a knight

Theodore was really curious around 19 about sex and asked a close friend of his to show him how it went just so he could say he had tried it - he hasn’t really desired it since having his curiosity satisfied and he is still friends with that person but neither of them are interested in a relationship

15. Their biggest sexual desire?

Andreya’s biggest desire is to take Elizabeth on a vacation to a beach or somewhere deep in the mountains where they don’t have to worry about anyone (like Elizabeth’s younger brother Ashton) interrupting their time - other than that they have nothing in mind

Elizabeth’s biggest desire is to get better at rigging, she wants to tie her girlfriend up in pretty ropes and ribbons but hasn’t found the time to learn yet

Theodore doesn’t really have any burning desires - though he did find a book hidden in his fathers’ library about sex magic and (after getting over his initial shock) would like to try a few things out one day with a partner

20. What’s their favorite thing to do sex wise?

Andreya likes to be pampered. She’s a little embarrassed about it but she likes it when Elizabeth is extra soft with her and praises her (more than usual) when they’re having sex

Elizabeth likes to role play with Andreya a lot, they have set scenes that they cycle through where the dynamics are always changing so neither of them gets bored

Theodore loves to experiment! He likes to try new things always and is open any anything at least once - he really likes wax-play though and will default to that often

Ruby Light: Are they the sort to wear their heart on the sleeve? If not, why?

Theodore is very vocal about his feelings and emotions, but selectively. It seems like he wears his heart on his sleeve because he is very open in talking about himself and his experiences, but he does often hide his deeper feelings and thoughts because he doesn’t want to be taken advantage of. 

Amazonite Comfort: What sorts of things bring your muse comfort in trying times? Are there any habits they have when things get difficult to help cope?

Elizabeth takes comfort from her family when things get hard! They've always been very close to each other, and she knows she can go to her siblings or her parents for anything. However, as she grows and once she is away from her family, her comfort is Andreya. 

Aside from people, she takes comfort in nature, in the way it is ever-moving and surviving - times may be hard for her, but if the world around her can continue to go on, so can she - things like rainbows, mushrooms growing in abandoned places, and puddles left after rain make her happy.

Sapphire Beacon: What kinds of things inspire your muse and does your muse tend to inspire others?

Andreya is inspired by persistence, leadership, and compassion, which are all things she looks up to Elizabeth’s father for. She’s also always inspired by Elizabeth’s positivity and strives to see the world the way she does.

Though she doesn’t think so, Andreya definitely does inspire others as she is a very strong knight often seen helping around the kingdom. Elizabeth’s younger brother, Ashton, looks up to her just as much as he does his father, and would beg her to train him when he was younger.
