A concept for an AU
Since I've seen people thought that Michael was the bite victim and he is now a robot/android created by William,
Consider this, au where Michael really is an android.
It all started when Michael passed away at the age of 14 due to an illness he was born with and that broke William. Both his wife and first son died from an illness and it is hard for him to accept Michael's death.
He created an android, illusion chip and fake memories for Michael. Just like what Henry did in the books, iirc.
Michael never knew he was an android. Only Evan and Elizabeth knew but they kept the secret away from Michael, as they were being told by William.
