“If I had a lame ass boyfriend I would hype him up so much I would make him wait outside so I could go in first and be like get ready here comes the specialest boy ever if you don’t cheer and clap for him I’ll fucking blow this whole building up”
Thinking of this tumblr post again. What characters across Genshin and honkai(or any fandoms you’d like) would this apply to in your eyes? Can obv make gn partner instead of boyfriend for the writing
I LOVE THIS!!! Tried to control myself a lil with the amount of characters I picked but uhhh that didn't go so well (^_^;)
Various Genshin, HSR, and HNDR Characters x GN Reader - Making You Feel Special
- Childe -
When I looked at the genshin roster and saw his dead fish eyes staring back at me, I knew I had to include him lmao. He is sooo the type to be crazy obnoxious about hyping you up every opportunity he gets, zero shame whatsoever. There's no talking him out of it either. You WILL be treated like an Archon everywhere you go!!! Or else... :) Just like he feels zero shame in treating you like divinity, he's got no qualms about using his position to ensure others do the same. They wouldn't want to get on the Fatui's bad side... right?
- Furina -
Another one who gets wayyyy over the top about introducing you and helping you feel welcome. A huge chunk of it is simply out of habit, what with her being one of Fontaine's most theatrical residents and having hundreds of years worth of muscle memory burned into her. However, despite how silly it may seem, she actually does put a lot of thought into her behavior. Being the lover of a former Archon's a tough position to be in, after all. The least she can do is steal the spotlight and help break the tension a little; that way, your sweet little self can't get too worked up about being judged for your own quirks, whatever those may be.
- Hu Tao -
Like Furina, she is SO happy to do whatever silly nonsense it takes to make herself look weird for your sake. She also plain old enjoys showing you off. It's so cute how she pushes you in front of others with the goofiest grin on her face, presenting you like some sort of human show and tell. What's not so cute is her reaction if the other person's own isn't up to par. You won't see it with her hiding behind your back, but trust that the eerie glare she's throwing their way is more than enough to convince any sane man to change their tune in an instant.
- Xiangling -
Ohhh to be given special treatment by Xiangling... The minute you set foot inside the Wanmin Restaurant, she's already zooming over with your favorite appetizers in hand and dragging you to your designated spot to get to monching. And if it's a special occasion like your birthday? Oh my goodness does she go all out with the celebratory dessert—or in her case, every single part of the meal. Everyone better sing along each time, or she'll sneak some extra spice into their next dish!
- Alice -
Nobody in the world could stand out when placed next to her, but will that stop her from using her magic to try to make it happen? Heck no! She's casting spell after spell to help you shine, no matter how embarrassing you find her antics to be. Her methods are super effective—both due to her talent and, well... If her daughter's anything to go off of, that whole line about blowing the whole building up if they don't react as desired shouldn't be taken lightly. So they better play along, 'kay?
- Thoma -
THOMA ARGGGHGHH I FINALLY GOT AN EXCUSE TO WRITE ABOUT YOU
It's no secret that he's one of the sweetest guys in Inazuma, always happy to help support those around him. Why wouldn't he do the same for you? Thankfully for those of y'all that get shy about this sorta thing, he's one of the few on this list that has the tact to know not to go too far with it. Don't get me wrong, he still goes pretty overboard, but a stern look his way will get him to switch gears if needed. Speaking of stern looks, if he hears a single complaint about your frequent appearances at the Kamisato Estate from the other workers? They're getting the nastiest side eye in the world. Probably a thinly veiled threat too regarding their job security if they keep acting up.
- Sparkle -
Your first time meeting the Masked Fools is a full-on party because of her. Not like their hangouts getting a bit over the top is anything out of the ordinary, but still. I wouldn't be surprised if she made a literal bomb and used it to set Sampo and the others on fire if they don't reach a certain noise threshold. You think they're just really, REALLY happy to meet you, meanwhile they're sweating bullets as an ominous beeping noise rings out from under them—
- Aventurine -
His way of going about hyping you up is far more subtle, but by no means does that mean you'll feel any less loved. From his perspective, there really isn't any need for grand gestures of affection here. One well-placed hand on your waist and a pet name or two is plenty to get the message across: you're his special plaything, and anyone with a brain would know better than to treat a Stoneheart's darling like anything other than the most precious of gems.
- Guinaifen -
Heeellloooooo!!! This is Guinaifen we're talking about here. Of course she's going to be your number one hype man! Even on the most normal of days, she's constantly singing your praises to any poor bloke who gets caught in one of her yapfests, so you can imagine how she gets when introducing you to others. Her adoration is so pure and genuine that it's incredibly infectious as well, ensuring that all around her will hold you in similarly high esteem. Another Guinaifen nation W!
- March 7th -
March literally can't help but show you off every single planet y'all go to together. You can whine all you want about it after the fact, but no matter how many times you ask her to tone it down, she can't help it! You take your eyes off her for one second and suddenly she's chatting up some poor service worker and pulling out her favorite photos... which just happen to be photos of you two together. Hey, don't get mad! It's just proof that you're the cutest cutie in the whole galaxy.
- Evernight -
Most people are kind enough to not get too outwardly annoyed by March's ramblings, but you know how some people are. Maybe they insult her, or worse, push her and yell at her to back off. If that's the case... Well, Evenight certainly doesn't mind stepping in for a little while to give them a good scare. After all, it's already unforgivable for them to hurt March; the fact that they inadvertently insulted you in the process as well? Now that's just asking for trouble. At least they were kind enough to offer themselves as an example, that way nobody else in that room will dare make that same mistake.
- Argenti -
Pretty self-explanatory. No matter what kind of person you are or how poor your self-esteem may be, he earnestly believes—and therefore treats you—like you're beauty incarnate, inside and out. Singing your praises at every waking moment is practically a full-time job for him. All he asks for in return is for you to cease your bizarre obsession with shying away from his compliments. They're embarrassing, you say? But he's only telling you the truth... Perhaps he needs to be even more affectionate so you can get used to it?
- Takemaru -
One of the first that came to mind when I saw this prompt! He's so the sort to take his insecure partner and throw them into a confidence building training arc. Very reminiscent of how he treated Shouma in r0. He keeps screaming at you to do one more rep, except instead of physical exercise, it's just you screaming shit like "I am worthy of being loved!!!" while he cheers for you on the sidelines. It's incredibly annoying to everyone else in the academy, but he will NOT listen to any noise complaints. Sorry to all the light sleepers in there.
- Kurara -
As the future spouse of an Oosuzuki, you are not allowed to go around being all mopey and sorry for yourself! It would be a disgrace to her family name. So you better hold your head up high going forward, else you risk a swift jab of her elbow and a verbal warning. Of course, the hits and scorning are never too harsh when it comes to you. Those kinds of heavy hitters are reserved for the rest of the unit on the off chance they throw an unsavory comment your way.
In other words, Gaku's getting hit. A lot. Maybe one day he'll learn...?
- Moko -
Who's better suited to be your hype man than the pro wrestler herself? The moment you walk into a room, she's already got her voice booming loud enough that her silly yet charming intro speech echoes throughout its entirety. What's more, her status as the team's beloved mood maker ends up making her strategy rather effective. Some of the others—most likely Nozomi and/or Kyoshika—even join in on her shenanigans and cheer you on like a fighter entering the ring... despite it being the cafeteria. And 8 a.m. And everyone else being way too exhausted for that kinda stuff. Oops.
- Eito -
Admittedly, he can be a little too jealous of others getting close to you to want them to start acting super friendly with you. Still, he loves loves loves showering you with praise around the others. It makes it a million times easier to tolerate them when he gets to sneak sweet things about you into the conversation. That food he made for everyone? Well, you helped, so you deserve credit too! That smart idea he had? Actually, you were the one to come up with it first. He just fleshed out the details is all.
Buuuuut I mostly included him because of the bomb part. Boy is not above kabooming anyone who makes you feel bad, even if it's a total accident on their part. Love and peace!!!
Could you do one of the tough women(like Chiori, Fei Xiao, Kujou Sara) with an opposite S/O who is like super soft and innocent. Imagining colleagues going “oh wow it’s the general/demon seamstress I heard they got a partner what kind of monster could it be” and in walks this person who gives Kirby/isabelle animal crossing energy
I couldn't decide on which girl to write for... so I did all three instead! :p I also themed each s/o after a specific animal hehe (can be read as personality or literal). Here u go!
Chiori, Feixiao, and Kujou Sara with an Opposite S/O
-Chiori-
- She would adore a mouse S/O that's both sweet and a bit whiny with her (or a lot too, since she knows she'll come out on top of any of your childish arguments either way). Outsiders with a harsh impression of Chiori may think that she's a no nonsense type of woman or too blunt for teasing to be her taste. In reality, she eats up your adorable antics like a beast that's been chained up and left to go ravenous. There's a certain thrill to hearing you squeak, whether figuratively or in a much more literal sense.
- Admittedly, the way that you jump easily is so cute that it kind of drives her insane sometimes. She enjoys watching you akin to a cat stalking their prey. The way your attention slowly drifts after a bout of inevitable boredom, the subtle slowing of your breath, the fact that she knows all she'd have to do is sneak up behind you and whisper in your ear and...
Unfortunately, if you're faint of heart similar to a real mouse, she has to back off that idea. How annoying. Still, even if she isn't allowed to jumpscare you, it's not like that's the only way to get your heart racing. Any form of teasing you'll tolerate from her, she'll gladly capitalize on.
- Whenever possible, she likes to have you stay with her while she's working at her boutique. You don't have to do anything or even talk if you're not up for it. Just having you around in the vicinity is enough to make the energy feel warmer, more domestic. Don't be surprised though if she ends up taking more breaks than usual.
- Don't look at her with those big ol' eyes.
Or do—that is, if you want to see her usually composed self turn shy and flustered. This is one of the very few times where your roles are a bit reversed. The way you look at her just feels so damn sweet and innocent, it makes her a little embarrassed of how decidedly not so her own gaze is. She knows that you like how you two balance each other out, but still.
- When you go out together in public, there's a funny dichotomy that plagues her mind. On one hand, she wants to show you off so badly. It's in her blood to take pride in the treasures that hang over her body, so why wouldn't that extend to the pretty lil thing hanging off her arm?
On the other hand, though... People look. And talk. And if there's anyone who knows how mindlessly cruel and antagonizing others can be to those who stand out in a crowd, it's her. Out loud, she takes it all in stride. Any worried comments you make will be swiftly countered by her, and all in her signature self-assured tone. But deep down, it honestly scares the crap out of her wondering if any harm will befall upon you when she's not paying close enough attention. That's why she's here, though, to be your sword and shield whenever you need.
-Feixiao-
- On the battlefield, she appears as a ruthless monster, pouncing at every opportunity to sink her jaws into any and all enemies in sight. As Moon Rage overcomes her, all sense and logic threatens to fade away into nothingness until that void, too, swallows her whole. It's a wonderful thing that she has you to come back home to, or else... honestly, she might not make it back at all.
- In her eyes, you're like her own precious little housecat. No matter what monstrosities she has to face outside, the mere sight of you waiting for her at the front door is enough to wash all her previous worries away in one fell swoop.
- Overall, you have a tendency to bring out a domestic side to her that very few are even aware of, much less get to witness firsthand. From waking up promptly each day and cooking breakfast to bathing together after one of her daily workouts, you two are practically glued at the hip. That is, while she's at home. If we're talking about during her actual workday, that's a whole other story. You deserve to live a life free of the shackles of war and the fear it brings, in her opinion, and the only way to accomplish that is to keep you far, far away from any dangers. So yeah, just be good and stay home.
- As hard as Feixiao tries to act carefree around you, sometimes her mask slips, particularly in the nighttime. She tries to play her sudden jolting upright, dilated pupils with sweat covering her forehead, as her just hearing a noise. She just got a bit startled, that's all. But you know better than that.
Thankfully, even in this state, she's very receptive to you and your attempts to comfort her. Any cuddling will be swiftly reciprocated—maybe too much so, with how roughly she presses you against her racing heart—and in a matter of time, you can already feel her breathing grow restful once more. You may have to nudge her a few times though in order to get her arms to loosen up.
- Between juggling work, training, and spending time with you, there really aren't that many times when you two go out in public together. When you do, though, all eyes are on you (including hers). She may try to act nonchalant about the whole ordeal, teasing you if you end up being shy around others, but don't let that fool you. Even if she's several feet away and chatting up a storm with some coworker or chef, her attention never wavers from you for even a second. It's times like these in which she thanks her lucky stars for her speed, that way she can just race right back to your side the second she detects any potential danger.
- She may not have been able to save every person she's cared for in her life. But as long as she's able to protect you and give you the peace you deserve, that's something she can live with.
-Sara-
- Relationships are hard for her, to say the least. No matter what kind or how easy other people around her make it look, it's just not in her skill set. The scars of being isolated from her peers at such a young age still mar her heart to this day, not to mention her firm belief that she must suppress any and all personal desires of hers for the sake of the Shogun.
This is why she ends up finding herself bonding so deeply with a capybara S/O. Your far more relaxed demeanor allows her to slowly let her guard down without feeling too exposed all at once. You also have the patience to deal with all of her social abnormalities, which she greatly appreciates.
- To be honest, when she first fell in love with you, she didn't ever plan on asking you out. Love was just one of the countless indulgences that someone of her status could not be allowed. That's just how things are for her—or at least, how they were before you gently destroyed the very foundations that made up her worldview and self-image.
It was a slow progression. First, you politely thanked her for saving you from a rogue attacker, making her stomach churn in ways she couldn't comprehend. Then, you sweetly called out to her one day in passing with sweets in tow. She refused initially, of course, but the way you looked so disappointed... she figured that one treat couldn't hurt. Little did she realize that your gentle way of loving would eventually be her undoing.
- The breaking point where she realized she couldn't leave you alone was when you two bumped into each other on a day where you weren't feeling so well. Someone was cruel to you and said hurtful things, but nothing physical in which her position could be of any use. As tears visibly welled up in your eyes, it occurred to her that just protecting the people you care for simply isn't enough. She wanted to do more than that. She yearned to care for you in painful times like these and become your shoulder to cry on, however stiff hers may be. And thus, her icy exterior began to melt.
- Her subordinates are shocked to discover that Sara has a partner, but honestly? They're just happy that she finally seems at peace. Some people initially tried to tease her about you, but the problem is that her love for you is so genuine and heartfelt that she never feels any shame talking about you in the first place. Trust that she will say the sappiest shit you'll ever hear in your life without a single hint of shame. You're the greatest thing to happen to her, so why would she be embarrassed of her love for you? That's absurd.
- On a side note, she's been eating a lot of sweets lately. They end up being a sort of personal symbol of the life lessons you've indirectly taught her about self-care and love.
Pssssssst. Her favorite is the kind that you once gave to her. You might even catch her eyes getting a little misty if you baked them from scratch.
Multifandom: Caleb (LADS), Castorice and Sparkle (HSR), Ei and Ganyu (GI)
I adore aus where the characters are aware of you in some way even though they're still in another world. My favorite of those concepts is an au where instead of them being your favorite gacha characters, you're THEIR fave.
I like to imagine that this version of them doesn't take place in their reality that we know of ingame. Instead, it's more of a modern au where they're just as chronically online and cringe as us lmao. Spamming their social media accounts when you get a new card (or whatever your game does) in all caps, falling asleep to videos of you talking. Maybe even writing long, angry replies on Reddit defending you and how you're best char. Here's some of the characters I feel particularly suit this idea
cw: mental illness (they're gacha addicts what else would you expect lol), mentions of death, light angst for some characters
-Caleb-
Listen, I can't NOT talk about Caleb here. This concept is practically made for his clingy, traumatized ass.
In this version of him, I imagine he started out pretty normal for a while actually, making friends pretty easily in his youth and all of that. Slowly but surely, though, things shifted. Family deaths piled up at an age where he just wasn't ready to handle that kind of emotional burden and... well, you know how guy friendships can be. He didn't really feel like he could turn to any of his real friends the way that he desperately needed to stop his entire world from falling apart.
And then there was your bright smile on his screen all of a sudden. He'd seen ads for the game you're in before, but he never got around to actually trying it out. Until that fateful day. After having gone through yet another funeral, his brain felt so fried and tired that he barely even processed his finger movements as he went through all the install screens, clicking the repetitive buttons and whatnot.
It's not like there's something wrong with the other characters or anything. They're fine and all, but he quickly started to realize just how much you stood out to him. How soothing everything about you was, as if you were actually there telling him everything would be okay. It doesn't take very long before he's full-on obsessed with you.
As a fan, he'd be so so pathetically jealous. Of course, he logically understands that he can't stop other people from looking at you, pulling for you, loving you... But holy hell if he doesn't want to just have you for himself, as ridiculous and impossible the notion is. He's the type of dude who'd legit get so heated over seeing someone mischaracterize you that he'd either send them a 1000 word rant or insta-block them. No in-between.
And yes, he would listen to your sweet voice every time he feels particularly lonely or grief hits too hard. You aren't going to judge him for crying, after all.
-Castorice-
Castorice in a modern au, in my opinion, would totally be a hospice worker. Ever since she was a child, she's had a knack for finding injured animals and would cradle them in her palms each and every time until they took their last breath. She's like an angel attracted to poor, suffering souls. Unfortunately, her young kid mind misinterprets the situation and believes she's cursed instead. It ultimately culminates into a full-blown phobia of touching people with both of her hands; it's just that ingrained in her that holding someone equals death.
Thankfully, as she gets older, she manages to cope with her fears a little better by putting her talent to good use. Whenever a patient in her care clearly expresses that they're ready to go, she's more than happy to help them pass on. But... it's still so achingly lonely. A real romantic relationship doesn't even process as an option to her, because, yknow. Physical intimacy.
That's why she grows so painfully attached to you, viewing you as her only real hope of having the lover she yearns for. Sure, she's not delusional. She knows you have a screen permanently forcing you two apart, but that's even better in her book. This way, her curse will never, ever harm you.
Castorice would absolutely be part of the hugging-a-pillow-and-imagining-it's-you club. Every single night, without fail, she wraps her arms and legs around her body pillow while imagining you. How warm you would actually be in her arms. She'd even go as far as to spray a scent on it—whatever reminds her the most of you while she's out shopping one day and picks it up.
As far as her online presence, she's definitely on the calmer side. Her account is filled to the brim with wholesome fanart of you, both reblogs and her own works. If anyone talks smack about you, she'll just block them and cleanse her soul with that adorable birthday art of you. Why waste precious energy on them when you're here to love and adore?
-Sparkle-
Sparkle is THE number one online troll, you can't convince me otherwise. Everyone else hates her so much, but somehow, they can never get rid of her presence. Aw, they blocked her newest account? Too bad, she's already got 3 other ones ready to go. But no matter how many times it changes, one thing remains consistent: that damn profile picture of you.
In a bizarre way, her determination to troll combined with your face being plastered next to her username kinda lets her... claim you? Nobody else would dare to use that photo of you as their profile pic, at least. It's not exactly the most orthodox way of showing her affection for you, but it gets similar results.
Now, everyone hates her and all, but most people have learned by now that she's best handled through methods like ignoring or blocking her. If they do that, typically Sparkle's attention wanes and she moves along to her next victim. But one person, one damn person, takes things too far. They start spamming insults towards you in her dms, tagging her in hate posts about you, everything to get under her skin. And it works like a charm. She's literally seething behind her dusty computer screen, losing her mind at every stupid notification sound.
Let's just say, that person won't be using social media again any time soon. Not once she's done with them.
-Ei-
It feels a bit strange, this version of Ei. Trust me when I say that every ounce of elegance and social skills her Genshin counterpart has flat-out doesn't exist in this world. I'm talking doesn't brush her hair most days, constant eyebags, won't even order at a drive-thru due to needing to talk to others, the works. It's not even necessarily that she's got social anxiety or anything like that. Ei plain old doesn't like people in this au, or at least, anyone other than you.
You're her rock that keeps her going every day. Why bother "making friends" when you're already here by her side every day? Why bother "taking care of her appearance" when you love her all the same? Her parents tried so hard to intervene and force her to act normal. They took away her devices and even forced her into therapy for as long as they legally could, but she just... wouldn't change. When they took her phone and computer, they'd expected her to switch hobbies. Maybe she'd pick up reading again. But every time they peek into her room, she's just sitting there with a vacant, empty expression. They can't hear it, but in her mind, you're still there right next to her keeping her company. It's honestly so heartbreaking to watch that they give up and let her have everything back again.
Truly, nothing else matters to her but you.
Unlike the others, she actually wouldn't have any social media presence whatsoever. Ei's stuck so far in her delusional attachment to you that she barely even can register the fact that she isn't your actual friend or partner. How could you not be, when you're together every moment of every day?
-Ganyu-
Ganyu's honestly probably the only one here with a genuinely healthy attachment level toward you, even if she admittedly uses you a lot to cope with her insecurities. You're just so, so sweet to her, having so many uplifting voice lines.
Her absolute favorite card of you is one where you're eating pastries with your game's mc. It comes with a corresponding unlockable event, where you encourage them to eat as much as they want. You even reassure them that no matter how they look or how much they weigh, you'll always love them. Essentially, you give Ganyu a free therapy session, and one that she greatly needs.
As much as she loves you, work forces her into being a filthy casual. Don't worry, though! She always makes time for limited content with you in it, like event stories and cards. Plus, she earns so much from her hard work. She can afford to spend an extra hundred... or five hundred... on duplicates of you. Even if your game's company is greedy as all hell, she still takes pride in funding them. If your game ever got the dreaded end-of-service announcement... she doesn't know what she'd do.
Her whale habits carry into social media, where she pays the bills of so many artists. They practically view her as a saint, both for how often she commissions them and for how willing she is to pay full price. Her? She's just happy to have all this extra content of you to admire. What a sweetheart ♡

Spending all their money on you, writing cute fanfiction, and even shedding a few tears while playing your game. Here's some of the characters I feel particularly suit this idea
For @wandiethewanderer @cmiru @meheheasasa you sweet sweet people
-Nicole-
She's simultaneously the stingiest player on Earth and a top spender. It's not her fault that she always loses her 50/50s and has to blow every last dime just to get all the copies of you she needs! ...as well as your signature weapon and its copies...and your limited time outfit...and every support those character-building websites say you need on your team... sigh. If she wasn't an orphan, her parents would totally lock her out of her bank account. At least that's one perk of having nobody but herself to rely on financially.
She knows this isn't healthy, but she just can't bring herself to stop her whale ways. You remind her of one of the children she grew up with back at the orphanage, one whose troubled fate's ingrained into the depths of her mind. In a way, she views spending copious amounts on you as a way of making up for her past powerlessness, as if you're actually receiving all those coins and benefiting from it. That's what makes her feel better, at least.
Making money the honest way is nice and all, but let's be real. When her bank account sits there empty at the wrong time and she gets desperate (and no, she can't wait for a rerun), that's when her cunning side truly blossoms. Stealing hundreds of dollars from an unprotected wallet? No issues here! She does make an honest effort to get at least most of her income from legal means, though. It fills her with pride to look at you and feel like she's earned having you on her account, all spoiled and stuff.
Surprisingly, Nicole's almost completely inactive on social media. She follows all of the official accounts, but... if she dared let herself see how many skilled artists exist out there to commission, her bank account would truly never recover.
-Huohuo-
Huohuo always has struggled with her self-esteem, being the signature shy girl in every social environment she's ever been in. It's not a title she holds proudly, yet she's never managed to shake it off and gain the confidence she yearns for. As such, she finds it immensely difficult to make friends.
Perhaps this is why she grew so fond of you. Whether it's for practice pretending to have a conversation with someone or just emotional support, you always manage to cheer her up and revive her hope that one day, she'll be able to talk to others as easily as she does to her phone screen. She's even adopted a method of imagining strangers are you in order to sidestep her nervous tendencies, and it actually works out really well. Still, no matter how greatly her confidence jumps or her friend count increases, she'll always hold a special place in her heart for you.
As for social media, she's a hardcore lurker, at least for the first few years. Even though it's not quite as intimidating as person-to-person interactions, it still makes her feel intensely afraid. As time goes on, though, and her confidence grows, so does her openness to posting and creating fan content. She really gets into writing fluffy, platonic fanfictions involving you. Overall, she's just an incredibly sweet and wholesome fan to have.
-Fu Xuan-
When a fictional character says strange things about foreseeing the future and knowing far more than they should, people describe them as smart, cool, or mysterious. In reality, those kinds of people are just labeled cringe. Thus is the tragedy of a modern Fu Xuan. Poor thing.
Despite not having nearly the same amount of training in divination, she's still incredibly skilled at the art. It seems that this talent runs in their bloodline, this innate ability to sense the tendrils of time and fate interweaving with one another. She uses this intuition of hers to guide her through her destiny and lets it point her focus towards important things and people. And you, of course, are the most valuable of them all.
When she first laid her eyes on you, her heart stopped. Logically, you shouldn't be relevant to her at all. You're just one out of a million fictional characters, insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe. And yet... something deep within her demands that she second-guess this assumption. It tells her that you are so, so much more than the naked eye can perceive. Of course, being the diviner she is, she listens.
Every method she can think of to learn more about you is on the table. I Ching, tarot, cartomancy, scrying, astrology, runes, tea leaves—hell, she even buys a bag of dried beans for favomancy despite never touching it before. But even with her greatest efforts, none of these attempts get her the information she truly craves. It's only when she's gifted a notebook that she decides to try out one more method: automatic writing. As she lets her mind wander off into a meditative trance, her dominant hand begins to scribble; it's as if it has a mind of its own suddenly. When she opens her eyes to look down at the page...
Huh?
" Rea lity which one which one
Which one of us is real ? Which is fiction? ? ?
Find them find ??? Find E×r??h find YOU
They're here too"
Fu Xuan stared down at these words for several hours that night. To this day, she keeps that notebook by her side every waking moment.
One day, she will learn the truth about your existence... as well as her own. But for now, she must settle for the knowledge that you are far, far more special than she ever could've imagined.
-Citlali-
Oh, if only she could spend her days in a modern world just lazing around, playing your game, and eating her snacks... Alas, miss thing's gotta work.
Huh, sounds like a family friend is in need of a babysitter for some kid named Ororon. She's never done this before, but surely it can't be that hard, right? Dear God child stop trying to eat that—no DON'T TOUCH THAT—ARE YOU TRYING TO END YOUR LIFE ORORON??? Sigh. She really needs some gaming to unwind. How about she boots up her favorite since childhood, a gacha game with none other than you in it?
She settles herself into a cozy couch and grabs some chips (it's fine, the homeowners gave her permission). All is well and good, and she finally starts to relax...
..."WHAT DO YOU MEAN END OF SERVICE?!"
Even little Ororon notices that something's off with her and pipes down for the rest of the evening, offering her crayon drawings to cheer her up. It does nothing to take away the deepening dread and heartache in her soul, but she appreciates the gesture nonetheless. Really... how could she have not realized before that one day, you would disappear on her like this? Now she's thinking back to all the long breaks she took from playing and just how much precious time with you she's unthinkingly tossed away. How naive of her to think that no matter how long she was away, you'd be right there for her to come back to.
Believe me when I say that she goes hardcore gamer mode the entire time up until your game finally shuts down. I'm talking does not sleep unless she gets so exhausted that she passes out. But even then, her body forces her back awake within the hour from pure fear of missing any more chances to be with you.
As the timer of the live countdown ticks and tears stream down her cheeks, she clutches her phone screen to her chest. You may be gone from the app store, but you'll never ever leave Citlali's heart.
-Yae Miko-
Yae's an interesting one, mostly for how severely her personality deviates from her canon self in this au. The thing is, the Yae we know and love only exists because of her having lived for a minimum of roughly 500 years. Obviously, a modern version of her doesn't have anywhere near this level of maturity. What she does retain, though, is her incessant desire to mess with other people. Unfortunately, that means she's doomed to become a mean girl; it's not severe enough to be considered bullying or anything, but jeez does she make others insecure with her "teasing".
For so long, nobody around her really challenges this mindset of hers. How could they? If they get upset and react, that just fuels the fire more and more. If they ignore her, well clearly it couldn't have been that big of a deal. In her mind, as long as she doesn't cross the line and physically hurt them, she can do no harm.
Until she plays the game you're in.
She was never one for video games, but hey, she's bored. Why not give it a go? So, she makes it through the story's intro and all that. It's not the most intriguing, but something in her gut feels... funny. Like a gentle nudge pushing her towards you. Even from the early stages, Yae's quick to note just how admirable of a person you are. Subconsciously, she starts to perceive you as the moral compass of the story. It's only natural with how kindhearted you are to everyone else, after all.
It's midnight. By now, her brain isn't even intentionally making her fingers move through each new piece of dialogue; they're just tapping away on instinct. You've managed to capture her attention more than any other character—any other human—ever has. She doesn't even have the mental space to feel embarrassed by this realization with how absorbed she is. At this point, she's long since made her way through all the main story content she's unlocked. But it's not enough. She needs more of you. And so she finds her way into the old event's tab. Oh, and look—there you are!
Filled to the brim with excitement, she presses to start the story without even glancing at any descriptions or anything else. She gets herself comfy and snuggles into bed in preparation. Something's not quite right, though. The tone is off, sludgy almost. You're still here, but you look... dead inside. Her heart aches already just looking at your sullen expression. What could've possibly made you this miserable? She rushes through the lines, desperate to see you happy again, and then—
Your classmate comes up and casually starts making remarks about you. The way you dress. Your weird quirks. How you talk. It's nothing that could be pointed out as obviously malicious, but you still wince at each line. She can hear the pain in each sound you make, the brightness in your eyes dimming. And here, she realizes something haunting.
She's said those exact same things before.
It absolutely destroys her. At first, she starts to deny it to herself, thinking things like "well, I didn't mean it like that" and "the context wasn't the same". As she lays there, though, barely holding in sobs, the truth sinks in. She's hurt people, and not just the normal way everyone accidentally does from time to time. She's made people feel awful. They've tried to tell her to knock it off, too, so there's no excuse of ignorance for her to hold onto. Yae has to look at herself through her glass reflection and admit to herself; she is not the good person she thought she was.
But that's not the end of her story. While the classmate in your game is just a throwaway—there just to further the plot, then disappear into obscurity—she's real. And she can change.
Her life after that fateful night takes a 180 so fast it gives everyone around her whiplash. Rumors spread around like wildfire as her peers attempt to understand just what the hell happened to the pompous personality they once knew. Some whisper that she must've gotten threatened with some punishment, while others ponder the narrative of some sort of tragic loss in her life. Of course, even as she's going out and about tenderly caring for those around her, boosting their confidence with kind words, the real reason never leaves her lips.
You broke her, but by doing so, you managed to let her put the pieces back together into something far more gentle and beautiful.

Author's note: Y'all don't understand how long I've been thinking about a modern au mean girl Yae!!! I can't believe I didn't think to include her in the first post... This type of freeform writing + this au gives so much room for explaining these characters in way I typically haven't hehe U^ェ^U
Perhaps later on I'll revisit and expand on Fu Xuan's section >:3c but I have my longer fic I gotta get out of my system first so pls be patient blep
Heyyy, how's it going? Personally, my anxiety's been acting up. Getting ridiculously panicked over nothing is so fun! /s
Anyways, on that same front — got any Shenhe comforting her S/O who Feels Too Much™ at that moment? (Bonus points if you also do Acheron)
Hello dearie! I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling great :/ I believe in you!! Whatever it is exactly you're dealing with, you'll be able to get through it! Here you go <3
Shenhe And Acheron - How They'd Comfort an Overwhelmed S/O
-Shenhe-
"It's okay. Just breathe through it."
Shenhe's dealt with more than her fair share as far as feeling overwhelmed goes. Usually in the form of much more violent emotions, but still. She knows a thing or two about self-soothing techniques and is more than happy to share which ones she finds most effective. Even if they don't all apply to you perfectly, she'll at least try.
As her nails gently glide against your back in rhythmic motions, she recounts her meditation techniques to you, making sure to highlight those that appear most fitting for your specific situation. Don't worry, she'll be right here next to you the whole time, diligently guiding you into slow, deep breaths for as long as you need.
-Acheron-
"Come here."
Acheron's more inclined towards physical contact as a method of consoling you over words. During times when the mind is too overwhelmed, sometimes what it needs most is simple silence.
Where some others struggle with wrangling in their emotions, hers tend to wind up muted and dulled—an unpleasant yet unavoidable side effect of her status as a self-annihilator. Still... Just as you help her to find a happy balance between those two worlds, she hopes to provide you with that same luxury. So, take all the time you need to relax your muscles and let your tension flow out of your body. She'll continue holding onto you until you're ready to press onward.
