Angelo Leo vs Tomoki Kameda | May 24, 2025
Angelo Leo (26-1) has been one of the great success stories of ProBox TV. They prides itself on rebuilding once championship fighters and getting them back into contention. Leo lost his title down at 122lbs to Fulton in 2021 and basically disappeared for a bit. When he came back on ProBox's Wednesday night fight series, he worked his way up to a title shot. Which he won on ESPN.
After defending it in Japan, Leo is back in the US and set to defend in Georgia as he faces off with Ra'eese Aleem (23-1) this Saturday (May 9) to defend his IBF featherweight title.
Angelo Leo......GOOD GOD, MAN! He had a family! That's a KO of the year candidate. New IBF featherweight champion!
Angelo Leo vs Mike Plania - 1-31-2024
Former super bantamweight champion Angelo Leo (23-1, 11 KOs) has been rebuilding his momentum after losing in his title fight against Steph Fulton back in 2021. He's won 3 straight since. He appears to want to be more of a finisher as he's gone up in weight to featherweight.
Leo will be on Pro Box over on YouTube this Wednesday (April 10) as he is set to face off with Eduardo Baez (23-5-2).

UNCASVILLE, CT – In a battle between unbeaten Super Bantamweights, Philadelphia’s Stephen Fulton Jr. (19-0. 8 KOs) faced Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Angelo Leo (20-1, 9 KOs) for the WBO Super Bantamweight title.
The two young pugilists were initially supposed to fight last August; however, Fulton was forced to pull out of the bout due to testing positive for COVID-19.
Leo would instead face Tramaine Williams and win a unanimous decision to win the vacant WBO Super Bantamweight title. With the victory, he became the first world champion out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, since the late Johnny Tapia.
Fulton would prove to be a much more significant challenge for Leo than Williams.
From the start of the fight, it was clear that Fulton was willing to engage in the type of fight that Leo prefers on the inside. However, like many fighters out of Philadelphia, Fulton held his own and then some on the inside.
Fulton’s faster hands and his ability to utilize the jab throughout allowed him to control the distance in his favor. On the inside, Leo left himself open to numerous uppercuts while digging into the body.
The Albuquerque native was not without his moments in the fight as he continually applied pressure and landed his share of hard punches. In the fourth round, Leo landed a series of right hands that seemed to hurt Fulton, who went almost a minute without firing back.
After the fifth round, the fight settled into a pattern where Fulton was able to control the fight on the outside and used the clinch to suppress any momentum attempted by Leo on the inside.
While a victory was getting further away from Leo in each passing round, he never stopped moving forward, trying to land a punch that would hurt Fulton.
However, Fulton proved to be the better fighter on the night, beating Leo in almost all facets. By the 11th round, Leo needed a knockout to win, but it wasn’t his night as Fulton was fully prepared.
All three judges scored the fight in the Philadelphia native’s favor with scores of 118-110 and 119-109 twice.
After being out of the ring for almost a year, Fulton was able to beat Leo at his own game, landing 364 out of 1183 punches to Leo’s 262 out of 810 punches, according to CompuBox.
“I was more so looking to beat him at his own style,” Fulton stated at the post-fight press conference. “And I told y’all I was gonna engage in this fight, and not just box. And I did a little bit of both, but I more so engaged in his style. And I did that to show that I’m the better man at what he does.”
As far as what is next for Fulton, he could head into a unification fight with the undefeated WBC Super Bantamweight champion Luis Nery out of Mexico. If Fulton’s goal is to become the undisputed champion in the division, he could face unified WBA and IBF champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
The Super Bantamweight division is turning into one of the best in the entire sport, with all of its titleholders in their prime and all at the age of 26. Hopefully, we see these young fighters take on one another before they eventually move up to Featherweight.
