this panel really gets me thinking in regard to mellos character. like yes of course the context is important lol but like all or nothing is a really great way to briefly define him. before he died he didnt seem to consider any other ways around it, he immediately jumped to going all in. when mello is described as an "impulsive" character i would not necessarily disagree, but most people assume it means hes reckless and thoughtless but i think in reality, it means even when his plans are both thoughtful and calculated theyre also all or nothing. he goes big or goes home. thats the real emphasis on the difference between him and near on the action front. Near is prone to damage control and scared to act while Mello demonstrably has a very high willingness to act and do whatever it physically takes.
