Holy shit
Fusako Yagami x Aki Tajima | 10DANCE (2025)
One scene that I really like is the sequence in Blackpool. Suzuki’s “Sugiki, forget these people, the only person you have to look at is me” versus Sugiki’s still affronted and perhaps painful confrontation with Liana’s new fiancé, who happens to be the champion of the world with his former partner/ fiancee. He’s seeing a situation of what could have been. Sugiki’s eyebrows then raised (Machi, once again you showed that every part of your body is talented) and the way he stifled his laughter after Suzuki confidently faced Guilio Moretti.
Maybe it is bc they also spoke in English and these actors tried and could. (The Netflix Japanese market is really small. So no wonder that they aim for the international audience.)
I don’t know how many times I repeated watching these scenes. While I listened to Machi and Ryoma’s characters speak in English, my mind was like, “Hollywood, remember these actors! Remember them!”

Mini-review:
I think I went into this movie with my expectations set way too high, and it was just impossible for it to deliver. The main problem was definitely the script. It resorts to internal narration much more than it really needs to, and even with the overuse of that tool, I still struggled to understand the characters in key moments of the story. Not to mention that the ending was rushed as hell. Still, I found quite a few things to like. Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida elevate the whole thing with their sensational performances and chemistry. There's a sensuality to their dance scenes that's simply a sight to behold. It's pretty obvious that the entire cast worked their asses off for this project, and it comes across in the screen. All in all, 10Dance wasn't the life-changing movie I wanted it to be, but its two leads make it more than worth a watch.
Everyone start writing 10dance Yaoi and 10dance Yuri right now I can't live like this there are only two fics stemming from the movie and 19 total on ao3...
... it'll be 20 soon if I have anything to say about it.
another cool thing about 10Dance, is how both Keita Machida and Anna Ishii are LDH artists and EXPG Tokyo graduates (iirc).
and while keita's time with GENERATIONS was cut short due to injury, anna went on to become part of E-girls, up until their disbandment in 2020.
so the both of them learning how to dance classical ballroom AND latin ballroom is amazing and impressive - but also arguably a testament to the training EXPG put them through.

that, and god bless LDH and their odd ability to somehow always make sure more than one (1) of their artists are in the same project at any given time.
