can’t believe the duffers managed to ruin literally every single holiday for me
1941/1973
September 8, 1941:
September 8, 1973 9:07 pm PST/11:07pm CST:
Armand feeds Louis blood to heal him.
Lestat:September 8th... 1973.
Lestat: September 8th, 1973. It was 11:07 here. It would have been 9:07 in San Francisco. Armand called me. Were you there?
Louis: Yeah.
Lestat: Did you hurt yourself?
About a couple of gates.
My Dad, who is pretty damn good surgeon of 40+ years of practice, just confirmed what Owen's said about the anniversary effect. He said that even second heart attack is likely to happen at the anniversary of the first one - because people become restless as the date approaches.
Also s*icidal people and people with severe psychological trauma may get themselves hurt on meaningful dates: celebrations but most importantly their birthdays.
(me myself had one of these ten years ago when I was very unstable mentally with several disorders which culminated on my 30th birthday)
Of course Duffers must be consulting doctors on the matter, but still it shook me.
Poor Will.
it’s been almost a year since the incident. with the help of caretaker and their close friends, whumpee has taken incredible strides towards recovery. they’ve learned to stop checking around every corner when they walk down hallways. they no longer shy away from caretaker’s touch. their scars, though ever present, begin to fade.
but as that date starts to creep up once again, they start to regress.
some nights, they wake up in a cold sweat from nightmares that closely mirror what happened. others, they are kept awake by relentless intrusive thoughts that they just can’t seem to ignore. the things that would normally roll off their shoulders seem to cause intense outbursts of anger or crying, sometimes both.
the frustration is immeasurable. they’ve spent so much time and energy just to live even a fraction of a normal life again, and suddenly it feels like it’s slipping right through their fingers.
caretaker checks on them one night, only to find they’ve locked themself in their room, refusing to let anyone in. caretaker leans against the door, hearing whumpee’s ragged breaths on the other side.
“It’s alright,” caretaker whispers, touching the door with the same gentleness they give whumpee, “Whenever you’re ready to talk, I’m here...however long that takes.”
does anyone have any actual legitimate anniversary reaction tips? Like not google's "commemorate it" because there's nothing I want to commemorate, or "talk about it" because there aren't people in my life I want to talk to about it, or "stay offline" because it's not like anyone is going to post about it. All the search results I found were really irrelevant. I just want to know how to not have an awful week.
Triannual Fuck Off and Find Me (with apologies to follow)
Armand, Don't Be Afraid Just Start the Tape, 2x05:
No, I clean it up! You make the mess and I clean it up! Mark it on the calendar, align it with Ursa Major. Louis' tri-annual fսck off and find me with apologies to follow.
If Armand for some strange reason was being exact about Louis disappearing and going on a bender and "triannual" means "every four months" a couple of dates keep repeating:
September 4
May 4
January 4
If we count four months from when Armand is shouting in the morning it's:
September 5
May 5
January 5th
September 4th/5th
-When Louis' story begins. The earliest likely night/early morning Lestat sees Louis breaking up a fight in the brothels and getting Paul away from the the brothels; when the story begins. (Labor Day weekend 1910; see Louis and Lestat Play Poker: Friday I'm in Love)
The day before Paul's birthday [September 6th, (born 1887)]
-Possibly when the Paris coven "contacts" Lestat: A blurry screenshot of the news item of the drunken men on the Eiffel Tower is dated September 5. Trial! has an animation of the theater vampires calling Lestat from a radio tower.
Closeup of the newspaper in a LDPDL montage of what's time?
Animation from Trial! These just look like ugly visors not exercising mind powers like supernatural AT&T.
Losing his business, turning Claudia, struggling not to kill himself. Three days before the anniversary of Louis losing his business in a riot and turning Claudia (September 1) and Claudia attempting to leave New Orleans while Louis struggles not to kill himself (September 1)
Claudia starts plotting. The day before Claudia starts plotting to kill Lestat according to her diary (September 3) (See Wake Me Up Before September Ends)
May 4th/5th
Two or three days after Grace's wedding (May 2, 1911) and the day after or two days after Paul's death (May 3, 1911).
Louis attends Grace's wedding, watches the sun come up the next day and sees Paul jump off the roof. He's expected to attend the wake but as far as his family is concerned he disappears and goes on a bender, and we see he is actually drinking his way through the streets of New Orleans.
In this argument with Armand, Armand notes that Louis habitually disappears and goes off on a bender.
Depending on how you read certain lines it may actually be when Paul's funeral and Louis' turning was, followed by Louis (accidentally?) walking outside into the sun the following morning after his first kill, seemingly not aware that Paul is not alive:
Louis: I-I gotta go home. Lestat:This is your home now, Louis. Breathe. Louis: I... I gotta collect money from the cribs. Lestat: I have all the money we need. Breathe. Louis: I have to go see Grace and Paul. Lestat: Oh, dear. Louis: You ain't fսck¡n' hearin' me! ( Grunts ) ( Breathes shakily ) I... I need to go home. ♪ ♪ ( Door closes )
Notice that right before Louis runs into the sun on the morning of September 5th, Louis also seemingly doesn't realize that Claudia isn't alive or is hallucinating her ghost calling him.
Armand: And you threw her name around just for cover, but it always circled back to him. Louis: I loved her. Armand: But she didn't love you. Not like he did, not like I have. Louis: ( softly ) I know. I know! Yes! I know. ( softly ) Thank you for saying it. It's all creeping back. Paris and the, uh, what, what, what? But there's... all of it coming back. There's, uh, Paris. Paris. Can you hear that? Can you hear that, hm? Can you hear her? She's calling me.
-Maybe around the date of the trial: If you take Lestat's throwaway line about the French Championship to be current and topical to the audience):
I have a box at Roland-Garros for the Men's doubles. I'm going to drain the Australians if they win. ( laughter ) And a croque madame at Brasserie Lipp.
[In 1948; the French Championship took place from May 19-30th; 1949, May 18-29th;]
January 4th/5th.
- The date of one of Claudia's kills. The last words of an an old man in her kill list. January 5th may also be the day they confront her about her kills in her diary. I'm not sure how much time elapses between her diary reading, the flood and Claudia leaving home.
Does anyone else have any other ideas?
I've added some information regarding staying safe during ritual/highdays.

Wake Me Up When September Ends
I'm not sure if vampires notice seasons or anniversaries like humans do.
Because if they did, autumn, and specifically September has sucked for Louis for a very long time.
Fall 1909/10 - Louis meets Lestat.
This could also imply his father passed in the fall:
Louis: The year was 1910, the fall of the fifth year of my father's passing and the fall of the fifth year as the executor in charge of the de Pointe du Lac family trust.
September 1, 1917 Louis has lost his business. He pulls Claudia from a burning building during a race riot set off by a disemboweled alderman; Louis begs Lestat to turn her.
September 1, 1939 Claudia attempts to leave for Europe; Louis sits on a park bench thinking of committing suicide in the sun, Germany invades Poland starting World War II.
September 3, 1939 Claudia plans to kills Lestat
September 6th, 1889 Paul du Pointe Du Lac's birthday
And Armand decides it's just fine to leave Louis alone the day after Labor Day weekend in September 4, 1973 when he's probably remembered Claudia's turning, wanting to kill himself that entire weekend before he even approaches a kid with a bag full of cassette tapes.
Probably just a coincidence he runs out into the sun on September 5th morning, after ingesting Daniel Molloy's blood with five lines of cokes, two beers, one Grasshopper, whatever he smoked, half a pack of cigs, and that mystery vial?
