What about Kyosuke Higuchi getting a unexpected phone call and birthday present from Jiro Higuchi?

Higuchi receives the call halfway through the evening and doesn’t recognize the number immediately. The revelation of its origin is not a pleasant one, but he doesn’t hang up; to the contrary, he sits tensely through the duration of the call, hunched over partially in his seat and giving clipped answers when required. He can feel Hatori staring at him curiously from the opposite side of the booth and imagines that his gaze is boring a hole in his cheek.

“And happy birthday, by the way,” his father adds gruffly right before the call cuts off.

Higuchi’s mouth twitches — it’s the third of August.

Higuchi/L aka Guliet

GULLET. 

I think the best summary of everything Gullet is is that L and Gucci just deserve each other. There’s something very satisfying about two rich douchebags who are using each other for their own perceived gains getting together in a love-hate relationship. 

L is with Gucci because he’s bored and he finds Gucci’s posturing hilarious, and Gucci is with L because he sees that L has (for some infuriating reason!!) incredible connections and wealth, but acts in a way that makes Gucci feel superior nonetheless as L tends to behave in really eccentric/foolish ways. 

It’s hard to explain if you don’t see the appeal in that premise, but I like the idea of these two being in a dysfunctional relationship where the faults they see in each other are exactly what keeps them together… somehow.

As a Gullet supporter! Is it possible to request a edit to compare L and Higuchi's height?

This is not very well done at all because getting the proportions to match is a nightmare, but I did this a while ago when we found out how much smaller Higuchi is... canonically...... 

14cm height difference.....

I think this one might be a bit exaggerated still though, but I am not sure I am capable of doing much better.

*raises hand* Recently had strange dream where "Death Note" was made into anime television series (again) but on a much higher budget . . . would you agree if this actually happened? I mean more Teru Mikami? Right?

To be brutally honest, I am ready for this franchise to die. PLEASE STOP MILKING THE CASH COW, IT’S FINE, PUT IT DOWN ALREADY.....

If they remade the anime, I already see it coming that it’d flat-out cut off after the L arc, too, haha. After a decade in this fandom, my expectations for content are truly abysmal. I don’t think I care to watch yet another producer jerk off over L.

I mean, would I watch it? Yes. Would I inevitably end up getting excited about it anyway? Yes. Do I want it to happen? Please, no.

Obviously I still love Death Note actively and will likely never stop, but the endless game of telephone that the story has to go through is... really tiresome.I did end up loving LNW a lot, I did end up having fun with the drama, I did end up thinking the musical had a lot of great songs... so like, I’ll eat up what they insist on putting out. I just don’t cheer on them to put it out at all, haha.

The only Death Note adaptation I would still eat up is a campy dating sim.

Hideki Ide is your favorite character outside the Yotsuba Group? Could you explain why (because I'm interested)?

haha, i’ll admit that my feelings for him aren’t particularly deep. i’ve been planning on rereading the manga relatively soon, but it’s been quite a while at this point, and i’m not really invested in many characters at this point ( aside from, y’know. You Know. ) in the end, my next favorite character comes to a close cut between a few, but ide probably comes out on top.

there are quite a few things i like abt him, though. he’s someone who is upfront abt his motivations and feelings, and it’s interesting to me that he almost immediately quits working w L bc of his distrust for him, but continues to investigate kira on his own and is clearly very firmly invested in the case itself. he ultimately has the same goal as the rest of the task force, but does his own thing for a while, and i feel like that period of time would be an interesting thing to explore at some point??

also i just, really appreciate his relationships w matsuda and aizawa respectively, ok. it’s good. i like minor characters a lot.
