obligatory pinned post introduction
hi! i'm jocko and this is my death note blog. he/him pronouns only please (although i won't object if you use they/them in passing). i'm 22 as of writing and first watched death note when i was 10 or 11. i guess i've been at this for a while.
i'm currently pursuing my master's degree in media and communication, and my professional interests include public relations, media effects, political advocacy communication, and fandom! big shocker on that last one. in my free time i enjoy reading, writing, doodling, listening to music, and going on hikes. i'm always happy to chat so feel free to shoot me a message!
death note is my main fandom, and my favorite characters are the yotsuba group, if you couldn't tell. i also really like the task force, mikami, takada, and the spk, but there aren't any death note characters who i dislike per se. i'm into a lot of other things, too, most recently star wars and gintama.
a couple notes:
i'm going to take a controversial stand here and say that human rights are important. in other words, terfs and the like are not welcome. i'm not going to go down the list of Types Of Bigot I Don't Want Here, but you get the idea.
as someone who studies media effects, i can say with certainty that, while fiction and reality are not the same, they do affect each other - in fact, fiction is often more persuasive than non-fiction. i don't think any topic should be off the table, but let's not be dense; media, fictional or otherwise, that sets out specifically to fetishize pedophilia and other forms of abuse also condones that behavior, and that has real-world consequences. i condemn and do not associate with content of that nature, period.
death note is dumb and the death penalty is not an effective crime deterrent. don't listen to ohba he doesn't know what he's talking about
this is a sideblog to @trepidatixn, although i haven’t used that blog in ages. my personal blog is @gaspardcaderousse, and you can also find me on ao3. cheers!
