The unintentional parallels between the Latin American/Indigenous Folklore of El Cadejo and Shadow
Brief history into El Cadejo, they are a dog like entity that roams isolated roads. It only comes out at night, and depending on where you're from, it is either divine entity who protects humans or mischievous spirit that leads people off a cliff.
There are too many variations. Too many. I'm just going to compare him to the one I know.
Its name is derived from the word Cadena, which means chains, which is reference to the chains wrapped around its neck that drag.
El Cadejo was born to protect a Mayan/Aztec princess.
Now it watches from the shadows, guiding children and drunk men home to their families. They also keep vagabonds safe.
El Cadejo is a black dog with red eyes and can drive humans insane if they glance at them.
Shadow was born to protect/cure Maria.
Now protects the planet and all those who inhabit it.
Similar color scheme.
Rings around his wrists and ankles.
They are perceived as creatures of evil/bad, but their appearance is not indicative of their moral compass.
