some m9 episode 7 and campaign spoilers below
I knew essek was gonna get worse before he got better but I'm SO glad that they're really starting to push evil essek because it'll make his redemption all the better. in just this season so far, we've seen him go from a semi kind version of himself into the carefully guarded shadowhand and then much further down the line, we'll get to see the nein tearing down his walls and opening his heart back up. ITS GONNA BE SO GOOD
For so long I was so scared to consider detransition, because the only detrans women I had been exposed to were heterosexual and religious (and usually featured on some right-wing program). Seeing them speak about how ‘happy’ they were now that they had found refuge in ‘traditional femininity’ made me feel even more isolated and resolute in my transgender identity, as I could never in a million years force myself into a patriarchal role like that. You can only imagine how freeing it was seeing detrans butches for the first time.

[Batman and Robin (2023) #30]
I know this was ages ago but I honestly still haven't gotten over this issue 😭😭
I'm so sad they discontinued this. This is the best representation of dami we've had in yrsss

And ik this has been said so many times by so many ppl but it was also so good to see the writer's finally take a step towards Damian's future in med. I'm pretty sure there was a comic where Alfred said smth about Damian being fairly experienced in the medicinal field after he stitched bruce's smth (if someone knows what I'm talking abt, pls tell me the comic) but since then I think the writer's just completely forgot abt his skills in medicine. The only downside to the direction where they took this is that they never explored the impact his mother's side of the family might have had on his interest in this field. Cuz like Talia and Ra's both had a background in medicine. Like I understand the entire connecting with his father's side of the family thing, especially with how rocky his relationship w Bruce was for a long time. But, I think they could have incorporated both aspects.
All in all tho, I don't think I'll ever get over this comic, specifically this arc. It was certainly a little rushed, but the character development and relationship development of Bruce and dami was really lovely to read. (Which is now getting butchered by Fraction in Batman (2025) 😭).
During the Fang brothers' disagreement, Thjazi claimed that the War of Axe and Vine was just a paycheck to Hal [C4E12]. We, the audience, don't know if (or how much of) that accusation is true. For all we know, it might’ve simply been a random outburst. I think there's some truth to it. I don't think it was ONLY about money but I do think there was SOME financial motivation to joining the war.
Maybe Hal joined the war because he or his part of the family didn't have a ton of money. Maybe Thjazi had more money than Hal growing up. Maybe their Dad financially prioritized Thjazi because he was younger. Maybe Dad and Thjazi's mother made more money than Dad and Hal's mother. I have so many maybes.
I'm not sure what's going on. All I know is that there is something going on there.
Five Sentence Friday Sunday
Ok, Jasper (@ratbagjasper ) tagged me, Jess is back, I think it's time to celebrate. I'm not sure this will stay as it is, but that's why it's a wip, right?
From my letters exchange between Ayanne and Adahlen, this is actually the first one :o (come on, it is 5 sentences if you don't count greetings and signatures)
Adahlen, I really need to talk to you. As a Keeper and his old Second friend, you know? I'm not sure if you've heard, but Strife kicked me out of the Veil Jumpers some months ago (please don't say anything), and I'm now traveling with two dwarves from the South —they're amazing— to help them with… saying it's something unsettling is an understatement. I just cannot write this in a letter. Can I… if I come by to the clan, will you have ten minutes to spare for me? I swear it's important. Love, Miss you Love, Ayanne
