Another Mobley
That’s Hank Mobley, the famous sax player, with a track from an album with a curious history.
The tunes for Another Workout had been recorded in 1961. The disc’s release, however, was delayed for well over two decades, finally appearing in Greece (EMI) and Japan (Blue Note) in 1985, and in the US and other countries a year later (Blue Note TOCJ-7150).
1986 is also the year of Mobley's death. He had not been able to perform since the mid-1970s, due to increasing health problems, and - though I am speculating - perhaps Another Workout was intended as a tribute to this fabulous saxophonist, now so gravely ill. It shows him at the height of his artistry, and recalls the famous album Workout which actually did appear in 1961.
That disc also featured guitarist Grant Green, absent in the follow-up release. Here is the remaining quartet playing the title I Should Care:
Hank Mobley, tenor sax Wynton Kelly, piano Paul Chambers, bass Philly Joe Jones, drums
for the first time in...a year, or something, im under 200lbs. this, all of this, is worth it to me.
one day, I'll be under 100lbs too.
Just going to wait for the mail to come and then I’m going for another 20 km bike ride. I’m going to start doing at least 10 km every day and weights. I can’t keep living like this, hiding and hating my appearance.
