I honestly can't remember much about him, it's been so long!

I mean, I got why Mary had an affair with him. He worked to fulfil that function in her development after widowhood and that's fine but I never shipped them romantically. I think he stayed in the show longer than he should have done. I don't think he was a very interesting character - probably why I can't remember much about him!
