As sweet as it was to see Chris to say 'and I still love you' about Emilia's issues I need her to fucking scream at him. Because he DOESN'T! He loves the IDEA OF HER. If you actually loved someone unconditionally you wouldn't go date an alternate (and wildly different) version of them. If he loved her looking at Earth X Harcourt should make him fucking squirm. It should make there be a pit of something in his chest, even if he ignores it. He shouldn't be happy about it!

If he loved her he would have taken no for an answer, he wouldn't be constantly forcing her to answer a question she's obviously uncomfortable with just because HE wants to know the answer. She deserves so much better.

I’m so pissed off it’s not even funny. Flag was one of the few in the Suicide Squad stories who could be trusted to put honor above self-interest. Turning him into a guy who cheats because he’s afraid of an awkward breakup is revolting.

If you truly don’t get the character arc after the finale for Rick Flag Sr seriously you haven’t watched these shows and simply refuse to get it and use the brain.

The man had his son killed in a metahuman bullshit job handed by Waller, Sr was beaten by a “beloved” metahuman (Phosphorus) then almost killer by another (Clayface).

Let’s add betrayed by Harcourt who went kissy face with Chris (for someone who vowed revenge, the steps from enemies to lovers became a speed test)

This the same bullshit made with Brock Rumlow on Captain America Winter Soldier but you sure fucking loved to see the man become your token abused and abusee doll.

Chris Smith aka the Peacemaker killed Rick Flag Jr and deserved any kind of payback for this and the 11 Street Kids are nothing but clueless idiots who easily betrayed their mothers but were happy cash in a paycheck

Typical of Gunn’s level of humor, but S2ep4 of Peacemaker is aggressively racist. I’m sure he’ll write some plot twist loophole for himself later, but once again he casts one of his white buddies (Michael Rooker, again) as a white guy dressed up as an Indigenous person who hunts and kills bald eagles. He then has white people comment about how he’s doing cultural appropriation and being condescending to Native Americans when it’s actually Gunn openly doing that. To get attention, or is he just kinda racist?

Hmm…that brown coat looks familiar.

And they don’t drop it from there or kill him off (which the show loves to do in an instant). Nope, over the course of the episode it persists. To the point he does a mocking version of an indigenous mediation ritual and ascends to an astral plane (his ritual works) to stalk the CGI eagle character pet of the white lead who he has a stupid subplot with now to stretch out this character’s 2 seconds.

Gunn could’ve cast an actual indigenous person for the role and played against insulting stereotypes but that would be too much of a lift for him, I think? (The season so far has fat jokes, ginger jokes, Asian jokes, you see where I’m going here, Gunn is casting a wide net.)

This same actor was cast as Yondu in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Yondu was created and inspired by Indigenous people. Gunn then turned him into white trash in space (one of Gunn’s favorite topics), and still gave him the arrow and shaved off his mohawk.

Why not cast literally anyone else, when you can just cast your buddy Mike dressed like a paroled confederate soldier in outer space?

But the whole main plot of S2 of this show is very likely that dopey Chris/Peacemaker, whose dead dad is basically a KKK Grand Dragon, has tripped into an alternate universe where his family is together and loved and celebrated as heroes. Yet Chris, unlike the audience (I mean, I hope anyway) is too stupid to notice that there is not one person of color in that universe because he’s so happy and in love with his favorite blonde white black ops gal hoping she will give him the time of day in any universe. But Chris is bisexual! (Or maybe just a stereotypical depiction of bisexuals as messy, hard to tell with Gunn.) Diversity!

Meanwhile, they’re about to drag a Black female character (lesbian, just broke up with her girlfriend, of course) over there, of course, so Chris can have his eyes opened.

Keep in mind, with the current social climate this is all being played for laughs and not called out for what it actually is.

Finished episode 8 of Peacemaker.

I fuckin hated it all and with passion. I tried to give it a chance in every single new episode. But I've finally found it: a dc show i hate so much that i have to drop it. Really a pity. I wanted to like it.

I once read the wikipedia article on the character of peacemaker. Reading it made me think that his show should've been more serious, especially since his father was a Nazi and he has mental health issues. Instead, the tv show seems like it's just another guardians of the galaxy movie. All I've learned from James Gunn through Google searches has determined for me that he only knows how to write in one specific way, and also that he's most likely a very perverse individual.

To reemphasize my original point, I feel like peacemaker deserved to be at least slightly more serious than it was.
