honestly, maybe i'd like 'x reader' fics more if they weren't all sub!reader focused with more daddy kink than personality and as many projected issues flattening the central character into something truly ooc as i'd get with a character-bashing salt fic

look I’m all for letting people enjoy being fans their own way as long as they aren’t causing any harm to anyone else but x reader anything just piss me of

they usually make the character a mafia bad boy type with a fem reader and all the usual booktok tropes

and honest to god they don’t particularly add anything to actual discussions on the media

I would even argue they are worse than those powerscaler dude bros

so obviously because of my clear strong opinions on reader shipping I did the logical thing and attacked whoever did it ……..……. lol no I just blocked the tag

But even with that the problem with the bllk fandom is that scrolling through recent posts just gives a wall of blocked tags

I probably wouldn't dislike reader insert if this was properly tagged, if they didn't dumb down every characters to male alpha stereotype but especially didn't try to make someone worrying about the many fic changing Miguel O'Hara in a rapist in something anti feminist somehow

Many I wish people who write reader inserts would specifically tag them “reader insert” so I could block that shit.

There’s too many damn characters to account for to block every single potential tag. Assuming they even tag it in the first place. Ugh.

I know I bitch about this a lot, but what exactly does pretending your OC is a generic every person instead of a character with characteristics that don’t need to be shared by the reader do besides create discourse and clog up tags with shit I have no interest in?

The one thing that I find annoying about the SPN fandom is the amount of Reader Insertion. It's just not something that I can get behind. Like its cool if you like it I guess but I like shows and books and movies for the characters the writers create. I want to focus on them, not myself. I guess this is also why I don't like RPs or OCs.
