Every single person who has ever been a fan of the Harry Potter universe who is an LGBTQIA+ member or ally has been forced to make a very painful choice.
It's a horrendous position to be in, and everybody is handling it the way that they feel is best, not only to the community at large but for our own personal selves.
There have been a vast number who have chosen to leave the Harry Potter fandom and world behind. That is their choice that they have made for themselves.
It, however, is not the only choice.
There is another group of us, quieter though we may be, who have instead refused to let a bigot (among other things) rip this sliver of happiness away from them.
This group of people is dubbed the "fuck its" in this video: Drarry Vs. J.K. Rowling: A Fandom in Crisis.
I am one of those people. Harry Potter brought me an escape when I had nothing. Hogwarts was my home when I had nothing and no one.
I've tried to mentally separate myself from it in the wake of JKRs BS, however I've basically got a variety of trauma bond with it that's made it genuinely extremely distressing to let go of because its also a coping mechanism I formed when I was 13 growing up in an abusive home. And sure I could work on unpacking that in therapy but that shit's expensive and I have a lot better things to unpack.
I do not and will not purchase any branded/licensed Harry Potter products or merch. I refuse to let JKR have my money.
I refuse to let JKR rip my one single scrap of teenage happiness from me. I will not grant her that. I will not give her that satisfaction. I refuse to let her win.
Fandoms man!
they have become so toxic and it’s kinda sad. i remember a few years ago when it was just people who liked the same things and characters and you would read fanfics and make friends online to talk about anything AND NOW! ITS! JUST! NOT! Like don’t get me wrong I’ve made some friends and they are super nice and i have met som amazing and talented people, BUT I HAVE ALSO SEEN SOME REALLY HORRIBLE PEOPLE!
listen i get that some characters aren’t necessarily the best in terms of morality, but that shouldn’t invalidate another person from liking them. all my life i have liked Marvel and DC, and during my teenage years (which are still currently ongoing based on the fact that i’m not an adult yet) i started entering more fandoms such as Sherlock, Merlin, Harry Potter (which i started taking interest in it in like summer of 2020) etc. And it is so sad seeing that you can’t like a character without being criticized. ITS FICTION! (sadly ;-;)
No matter how much you criticize a character, IT WONT CHANGE UNLESS THE CREATOR WANTS TO MAKE IT DIFFERENT! No matter how much you hate it and despise it and absolutely loath it, it! wont! change! it’s not the same with an alive human being where you can call them out and maybe they will change. plz don’t message me trying to lecture me for liking a certain character. it’s annoying and it’s not making me dislike the character , it’s making me dislike the person hating on the character.
Opinions vary and if you think a certain character is toxic, good for you!
if you prefer another character, amazing!
but stop criticizing the characters i love.
i feel like this is all over the place but it had to be said. stop gate keeping and hating on other peoples preferences in a fandom just because you think you are a moral police and get to decide what’s right and what’s wrong. i’m pretty damn sure no one is perfect. “bUt tHey aRe sO tOxiC” you’re being toxic rn -_-

So I don't keep up with either the Supernatural fandom (because spoilers) or Twitter (because I don't understand how that shit works) but my Tumblr feed is somehow exploding with references to a series of tweets from one of the actors? I think? What the hell is happening over there? I'm so confused!
10 Long Years
I’ve hit a major milestone, folks--it has been officially ten years since I got into Transformers, and it has been such a ride. I’ve made wonderful friends, read wonderful fanfics, admired wonderful fanart, watched wonderful shows. Had it not been for the Michael Bay Transformers movies, I would have never been a fan in the first place.
However, as time has gone on, I’ve been dealing with a crisis. I feel like I don’t have a place in the fandom, and that the things I’d like to see more of in TF are not things that Hasbro is willing to do (for all for Prime’s faults, I loved the darker tone and interesting character designs). In a weird way, it almost feels as if Hasbro is now playing it safe, which isn’t always a bad thing. I've noticed, however, that I'm peculiar about my tastes. If a show or movie sticks too closely to status quo, I get bored, but if it drifts too far off from status quo, I get disinterested.
It’s me longing to go home but not finding much that makes me want to. I don't want this feeling to continue, but I also don't want to force myself. I don’t know how long I’ll feel like this, as I’m feeling a sense of guilt over not being as active in the fandom as I used to, Never once did I think that that ten years on I’ll be feeling like a stranger with the thing I love, but here I am.
Supernatural or Stranger Things???
So I’m having an argument with my bro and we can’t agree what is the better show so I’m going to let TUMBLR decide on who is right
If you think SUPERNATURAL is the better choice then REBLOG this
But if you think STRANGER THINGS is the better choice then LIKE this
OR if you don’t want to do either of that then just comment down below
May the odds be ever on your favor!!!!!
