So following the photo payment deans (see Anna Kunerkster on twitter) it seems the photographer WAS compensated and she feels it was fair and met her wishes, but her photographer friends how found out what she was paid and thinks it was a bad deal.

I was obviously not involved so I can't say definitively but I have a few issues with how this played out. This is what Anna had to say about it (today, after letting everything go on yesterday for way too long tbh):

No one stole my joy over the album cover. Everyone was so supportive and excited for me. Those pushing for fandom artist to be paid fairly didn’t steal my joy, I believe fandom artist should get paid what they think is fair. I was compensated in ways that I feel was fair TO ME. So please know what I think is fair compensation for my own work is not the same as what others do. Everyone wants to get more out of a deal, whether it’s a business deal or a sale at a grocery store, but I personally am done talking about my compensation for this project. Thanks

Ok, so she's happy with it?? Cool. But she only says she was "compensated in ways that feel fair TO ME" which personally I think still sounds like she wasn't actually paid (and that lines up with what her friends were saying yesterday). It doesn't sound like she was saying she received a fair amount in payment, it sounds like her compensation was something that was mot monetary ('in ways that feel fair' sounds like it was something other than money). And that was what her friends (who specifically said they were in contact with her about it) were complaining about - she did not get paid for her work. I read a lot of the tweets from her friends yesterday and they all said the same thing, she wasn't paid. Now maybe she got free merch, or got a free M&G or something like that and she's fine with that but I can absolutely see why others don't think its fair.

Just a couple where it makes it sound more like she was promised exposure and one where they specifically say they know she wasn't compensated fairly and that the compensation should have been agreed upon before usage (sounds like RC decided to use it then asked later). There are a LOT more tweets like these out there.

Again, I don't know the details of the situation but how upset her friends were yesterday while still trying to be happy for her? Tells me they know she wasn't fairly compensated but she's too blinded by her obsession with him to realize it. If she's fine with it and agreed to whatever she got? Ok I guess. But a starstruck fan is much more likely to accept a subpar deal just to work with their faves and it still does not make the situation fair or right. Just saying.

Yeah, if she wants to consider it good, that's great for her, but RC and other photographers know what a professional photo for an album cover should cost. Therefore, it still sounds like RC took advantage of an over-eager fan who was willing to part with their work for far less than they would have had to pay a professional.

He follows them on instagram too, as well as a group that dedicated to “exposing liberal lies” but is actually just pandering drivel that wouldn’t even make it onto even the worst news outlets. In fact, libsoftiktok was banned from Facebook after their followers started threatening Boston Children’s Hospital. If Facebook, who Zuckerberg sold to the Russians long ago, thinks you’re too extremist/dangerous to have a platform with them that’s a huge red flag. Plus, the group he hangs out with in Austin is made up of rich conservatives who took out PPE loans, had them forgiven, and then shamed the rest of the country for struggling.

I have no problem with Republicans (I would elect Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney as our next president in a heartbeat) and I don’t think you need to be a democrat to be a good person, but you can’t be a Qanon MAGA wacko who spends all their time with other frauds. And this is the company Jensen and Danneel willingly keeps and help put money into the pockets of. Their (specifically Danneel’s though Jensen benefits from it through association) performative activism means even less now. I hope all of the blue haired weirdos who follow Jensen around like starving dogs are ashamed with themselves for spending all that money on Radio Co. tickets and indirectly supporting Steve Carlson. But knowing them they’re not, all of their morals are fake and just an excuse to be outraged at everything they don’t like.

They love to claim Jensen is "distancing" himself from Jared because Jared is such a "toxic, homophobic racist" but I'm sure they'll excuse Steve- simply because he doesn't affect their fantasies in any way lol. Like you said, it's all fake outrage with them.
