noah fence but the mere concept of bon.enzo annoys me like ship what you want or whatever but BE is literally the epitome of everything that was wrong with how the show treated bonnie. enzo had first been pining after lily salvatore and when she rejected him only then had bonnie suddenly become an option. i remember reading in a meta once that enzo was only ever what the writers needed him to be. he had no personality. he was the antagonist when they needed, and the love interest when they wanted. and after season six when the bamon hype got too much to bear, they stuck enzo with bonnie as a consolation prize and developed them through a series of flashbacks, clearly taking notes and beats from bamon (i.e. stuck in the same place isolated from others. bickering. having little insiders like “terrible guitar player.”) in this essay i will

BUT i’m one of the multishippers who actually dug b*nenzo in s7. not otp level, but i enjoyed them. 

s8, however, took a big step back for me and showed me that….yeah, this isnt gonna work

a) bonnie idealizes enzo. enzo idealizes bonnie. not good for an actual, realistic relationship

b) it’s like beremy 2.0 where bonnie feels she has to DIE for him and vice versa.  this is REALLY stupid. and if u think about it, b*onenzo became a thing, sadly, not cuz they had a great rapport or banter, but because there was a life-and-death situation with bonnie and he had to step in and save her. why do they always seem to bond on the brink of disaster? oh yeah, cuz the writers are lazy

c) enzo doesn’t acknowledge or even know that bonnie has a darker side. for him, SHE is his ticket to redemption. it’s not his fault he thinks so, given that they literally took 0.5 seconds to develop the ship. but yeah…. nope. 

d) their interactions are cute, but after a while, i wanted more depth from them. and it was always either “guitar shenanigans! throwing popcorn in his mouth!” or “i will set myself on fire for you” and NO in-between. uhhh no. also that guitar bit became rly obnoxious after a certain point

e) they toned down the sexual chemistry because god forbid that bonnie get to have a sexy thing with a vamp. b*onenzo is trying to be wholesome and pure and sacrificing all nuance for it.

now, all these problems above? disappear with kai. yeah, he brings in a whoole new set of problems but he’d never idealize bonnie, he knows & understands the darker shades of her humanity, she can be selfish with him and not put him first every time, their interactions are multilayered and complex and their sexual chemistry is impossible to cool down. AND THIS is with half of the screentime bonkai got. 

would kai parker be the healthiest romantic choice ever? no, but that’s not the question here and bonnie isn’t looking for the best case scenario. imo,  pre s8 bonnie was looking for someone who could set her free, be it from the obligations and inertia of mystic falls or her own self-imposed guilt.

so yes, kai parker every time

you know what annoys me to this day? It's that Enzo died the same way any "non-main cast" died and it also stained Stefan's hands. This must come as a total shock to you, me being pro-bamon and all BUT WE CAN ALL ADMIT THAT ENZO'S DEATH DESERVED MORE THAN HIS HEART BEING RIPPED OUT OF HIS BACK AT THE MAIN DOORFRAME OF BONNIE'S HOUSE !!! Like come one guys, they were planning to start a human life together, growing old together. They were planning to live normally. They were just starting to get back to the road of happiness and that mindset was literally ripped out of Enzo's back. Where is that heart wrenching, final speech - the speech that he would relay to her about their undying love and that he was happy with her, and that he would gladly wait for her? Where was the last kiss they shared? Enzo was supposed to be Bonnie's little flicker of light amidst the darkness she had endured when Damon desiccated himself, lmao at least give him credit for keeping Bonnie sane. If you're pro-Bamon or pro-Carenzo or whatever the fuck you guys ship Enzo with or don't ship him with and think that he's a hindrance - ya'll got to agree that his death (alike many on the show) was a shitty one.

So, in light of recent events... I’m going to write this post about the stuff that has gone wrong with my favourite show.

I loved TVD for years, like many, and I can’t believe how bad it has gotten... and I feel really bad to say it too because I adore all the actors/actresses and the hard work they put into it.

But I’m sorry to say, I just hate the direction it’s going in and that really upsets me because I wanted to say goodbye to a show that I once loved on a good and happy note... not on one where I am writing a negative post ranting about all of the things I hate and wish I could change about it.

Firstly, STEROLINE... Ok, so overall, I do prefer this pairing to Klaroline... But I’m sorry, that engagement felt SO rushed!! I know it’s the last season but couldn’t they have left it for a bit then done another time jump at the end of the season like PLL is doing? Also, Caroline is my favourite character and I can’t help but feel when she’s with Stefan she reverts back to being Caroline in season 1 and it’s like all the character development over the past 7 seasons just means nothing. In terms of character and the way she acts, I actually preferred how she acted around Klaus as she showed she had balls and was tough... but with Stefan she is just TOO soppy... idk

The other thing that annoys me, is that I’m PRETTY SURE since randomly killing Cami, that the writers plan for Caroline to move to New Orleans and be with Klaus. So that makes this whole Steroline build up completely pointless. Either that, or BOTH Stefan and Caroline will go to NOLA only to break up because Stefan will find love with Klaus’s sister Freya (they clearly hinted at tension there during the crossover) so Caroline can then be with Klaus #predictable

Secondly, FORWOOD was and will always be my favourite ship because it’s the reason I started watching the show... and I just can’t believe they brought Tyler back JUST FOR SOMEONE FOR DAMON TO KILL! On this note, I’m getting increasingly more annoyed every season at how TVD and TO writers just kill characters randomly... I swear NO thought goes into it either and that’s probably why (most of them) end up being brought back from the dead for some silly reason.

BONNIE/ENZO- Felt rushed and random too... so I just can’t get behind it... I think they thought it would satisfy Bamon fans because Enzo has a similar personality to Damon in some ways... (that bad boy vibe) because clearly, they want Damon with Elena... However, rushing this relationship certainly wasn’t the best way to go about it.

Caroline pregnancy- I know Candice was pregnant, but did they really have to do that bizarre storyline of Caroline (a vampire) getting pregnant with witch babies that were magically transported into her womb??? Like SERIOUSLY? Couldn’t they have thought of something else? Worst of all, they were ALARICS babies and then they tried to create a relationship between ALARIC and Caroline which was just pure madness because he is a parental figure to her BEST FRIEND?? Just no! The situation is just so weird with her and the kids too and having her and Alaric as parents and just ugh I can’t get behind the whole Caroline/baby/mother story... Sorry -_-

Boring predictable storylines too.... Like Damon being evil again, then being good again, then going back to evil..... We all know he’s going to find his way back and it’ll probably be Stefan or Elena who help him. IT’S ALWAYS THE SAME. It feels like recycled stories being repeated.

I’m so sad and disappointed... especially at Tyler’s random killing. However, I’m not even surprised anymore. I don’t like how this season is going and that really saddens me... I’m not sure if I’m even going to be able to watch it nevermind finishing it.
