I feel like I am going crazy
For context, I am 17 years old and not currently able to do much about the situation. Today at dinner my father complained about the fact that he is no longer allowed to use ai without providing the specific prompt and answer used. This aggrevated him because of course he needs the ai to write the sentences. When I pointed out that if there was just some guy helping him write all the sentences, that that person would be expected to be regarded as a co-author he agreed, but fails to see the problem in this. I feel like I am going crazy because the world does not care about ai and the damages it is doing, and I am even seeing my father blindly trusting it, when I looked up to him so much previously. He claims that because he would be able to do it himself, that makes it ok. I refuted this statement, and we went on to talk about another topic. The thing is later on we had yet another disagreement, where I basically stated that I can understand why something is the way that it is, but I still do not have to like it. He did not agree with this and resorted to just flat out ignoring me, even when I asked him a follow up question. No matter how hard I try to explain things, whether to him or to other people in my life, it feels like I am just shouting into the void and I don't know what to do anymore.
They had to shut down sora before we all found out that instead of actual AI it was just 3 underpaid actors switching wigs really fast
We went for a walk after all 🌿

Pro gen ai-ers after finding out that photobashing is accessible and free but they have to use minimal effort to do it:
I just watched a video about students getting their essays falsely flagged as AI-written, and the “advice” was absolutely unhinged. Stuff like: “Leave mistakes in your writing.” “Don’t copy/paste quotes because the metadata betrays you.” “Write everything in Google Docs so you can show a version history as proof of humanity.” And my personal favorite: “If your writing sounds too clean or polished and gets flagged, go to the writing center so someone can help you sound more flawed.”
Like… excuse me??
Yes, these tips are technically practical, but students should not have to intentionally sabotage their own writing just to convince a glitchy detector they’re a real person. We shouldn’t have to perform bad grammar as proof of existence.
I spent YEARS learning how to write well. I shouldn’t have to “undo” that because some busted algorithm was trained on our writing and then decides we sound too much like ourselves.
Being punished for writing well is dystopian and embarrassing—for the system, not the students.
