The boy with the running away issue ended up with someone who enables his worst impulses and who idolizes him for something he never wanted to be, rather the girl who would be his equal and who never saw him as anything more than another kid. This is such a happy ending.

By trying to shit on Zutara they actually criticise the ships they claim to like so much. Honestly I have a feeling they would actually ship Zutara if they weren't so close-minded and limited by canon.

I’ve repeatedly been seeing posts stating that the hate towards Mai is based on misogyny and that nobody would hate Mai if she were a man- and I have to say, I firmly believe it’s the opposite

Imagine if Zuko were a 16 years old girl who is having emotional and mental breakdowns because she’s been suffering from constant assassination attempts, and then male!Mai breaks up with her because she became closed off (while she’s been suffering from assassination attempts) and, in the following comic, male!Mai mocked female!Zuko by saying that she’s turning into her father (who is also her abuser)

The fandom would EXPLODE. Everybody and their mothers would say that male!Mai is an abusive boyfriend (or, at the very least, toxic) and female!Zuko deserves better

Let’s be honest, the only reason why certain parts of the fandom defend Mai’s shitty behavior in the comics is because they can hide behind the “she is only a teenage girl” excuse. And it’s a flimsy shield.

You know, Mai's "how are you going to fight without your bending?" is funny considering she's dated Zuko, who is a maniac with or without bending.

When I was watching the show, I was lowkey the #1 Mai hater and people will say it's because I hate Women Who Are Different when actually it's that she has 1 canon personality trait and that personality trait is being apathetic and unpleasant and spamming the same "I'm bored" line like a broken pull-string doll. You're bored?! I'm bored! Say something else! If they wanted to make her diabolically one-dimensional, they didn't also have to give her mountains of screentime.

That and I exercised Empathy during her relationship with Zuko and concluded that if I were female!Zuko with male!Mai as a boyfriend, I'd probably be on the brink of throwing hands. She's that avoidant asshole boyfriend you can't take anywhere who negs you all the time and secretly hates you, that boomer husband that calls his wife a ball and chain. She'd be that guy who calls his ex crazy for finally snapping and getting mad after criticizing her nonstop. And sure, he doesn't want to hear about his girlfriend's feelings, but he still manages to be possessive!

Maiko's fans who insist we're liars, and that Izumi means fountain, like the one Maiko fell into as children, are so annoying... Because it's isn't true. The term Izumi indeed doesn't refer to that kind of fountain. But they simply refuse to understand. They prefer to say that we are denying "the obvious" when their obviousness is factually false, damn it!The name Izumi, in fact, canonically has nothing to do with the fountain Maiko fell into as children or even in the comics!

Their denial makes me laugh, personally. Especially when they try to claim that the two different terms mean the same thing.
