Pro tip for anyone with too much anxiety to open a door because you’re worried it’ll be a pull and you’ll look stupid trying to push it or vice versa, here’s what I find happens 90% of the time:
if you’re on the outside, pull. If you’re on the inside, push
I don’t know why, but I imagine that it makes it harder for bad people to get in, and/or makes it easier for people to rush out in the case of emergencies (crowd shoving against the door vs crowd running and stopping briefly to open it. Especially in a panic).
So whenever I have to open a new door and don’t know which is what, I imagine a crowd rushing through. It greatly helped.
