somehow i picked up "tick tock" as my only vocal tic and now when i get tics i just feel like wiress in catching fire repeating it over and over
genuinely what are people teaching kids about mental illness/health, especially on tiktok. i was told i can’t use the term “tics” for my INVOLUNTARY ANXIOUS TICS because it’s only for people with Tourette’s.
i was not told this on tiktok, but in the real world by someone who did not know any better. i had to explain to him that that is not a thing and whoever told him that lied.
hey uuuuuuh
ppl with anxiety tics what kind do you have
vocal, motor, both?
Anxiety tics don’t exist. Anxiety cannot cause tics, it can trigger them but is never a root cause.
People often don’t understand this, so here’s an analogy.
Say someone with PTSD hears a loud noise at a grocery store, and has a flashback. The loud noise did not cause the PTSD, it triggered the a symptom from a pre-existing disorder.
This is the same way that anxiety doesn’t cause tics, but it can trigger symptoms of a pre-existing disorder.
it's tic attack tuesday 😜
I love when tics
