I’ve become a big fan of Mechanic! Robert. Like Blonde Blazer pulls him for a chat, just like in canon, except she’s like ‘we’ll make you Mecha Man again, you’ll work on other heroes support items.’

Royd had said that he does all the superheroes and that they take stuff from villains or former villains and make ‘em better. Something like that. So I imagine the deal is for Royd to work on Mecha Man and Robert takes over Royd’s work as the engineer.

Or maybe he finds this hobby later either after the bar fight or post-canon shroud fight. He comes to Royd’s lab and is tinkering away like crazy, bored out of his mind until he stops and realizes he just made something. Idk man he probably made a Batman weapon or something but the POINT is that this depressed twink needs a hobby and mechanics is it for him!

In a way this ties into my whole ‘Robert with glasses’ post so…yeah. I would say the image of Robert relaxing in the lab, late evening, sweatpants low, shirt tight, glasses practically falling off his nose, and a small smile on his face should be enough to make anyone feral.
