Which country would most likely to randomly go to someone's funeral just cause, just there, sitting?

So this is actually a very interesting question and I hope you don’t mind if I kinda take it in a different direction!

I feel like some nations (older ones or those who have been through more hardship) would go to cemeteries to visit the dead. Especially graves that look really old and forgotten because no one deserves to be forgotten.

Part of me sees Matthew going to cemeteries and cleaning gravestones so they’re readable again. I’ve seen a lot of grave cleaners on tik tok and they always make me tear up a little cause I just imagine those ghosts feeling so happy that someone cares about them enough to come clean their headstone off! :’)

I also feel like they’d just...walk around cemeteries when they’re feeling wonky about their age. Being immortal has its drawbacks especially in the mental health category so sometimes just going to visit humans who have passed on is kinda soothing? Maybe? I do have a personal HC that nations like Arthur and others involved in the world wars will go leave flowers on the graves of soldiers they knew back in the day or for soldiers who no longer have living family members to leave flowers for them

Another thing I’ve thought about is that I like to think that Alfred lives outside of DC and often goes to Arlington to just walk around. The guards all know and trust him and allow him to just exist in that space. He will volunteer to dress up in his formal military uniform to help with funerals and he’ll be really low key about it like...he doesn’t want to be recognized when he does that kinda stuff cause while he’s helping these families it’s also an emotional release thing for him. Obviously he can’t cry at these funerals, that’s the family’s business, but he gets a sense of comfort kinda? I’m having trouble explaining it, I hope you get what I mean!

Ivan is also a cemetery lurker. He won’t join in on funerals or burials but he’ll wait until the family is gone to go talk to the grave ‘I didn’t know you but I can tell you were very loved. I hope you’re resting easy, dear...’ he’ll even buy flowers to leave if he’s especially touched by their story

Do Francis gets jealous to whoever is close with Matthew is too? Francis is very open and such but do think he gets jealous from time to time too? If yes, with whom?

In my head, I’d imagine Francis would get jealous despite he is very open. We all know Matthew has a very close relationship with Cuba (unfortunately I don’t know his name 🥺). So I’d imagine Francis would be jealous of that relationship because there’s a whole entire side of Matthew that he’s never seen before. And Cuba brings that side of him out.
