I'm thinking of selling chibi commissions at the beginning of the year, so I did some chibi practice with my Statetalia OCs.

There's a break in my middle earth october prompt list so here's a little drawing of my OLD hetalia OC Paris (inspired by a pic of Dita von Teese)
Fact: The great horse manure crisis of 1894 was an urban catastrophe in bigger cities. During this time horses were the main mode of transportation and that became a big issue due to the fact that horses, well, poop. They poop A LOT. Streets of big cities, where there was a lot of horses and a lot of people, were drowning in manure. Allegedly The Times even wrote:
"In 50 years, every street in London will be buried under nine feet of manure".
They were on to something - in 1900s London there were "over 50,000 horses transporting people around the city each day." Each horse produced about 15 and 35 pounds of manure per day. This attracted giant swarms of flies and streets were becoming an unhygienic, stinky and very unhealthy nightmare. It was an unsolvable problem, as more horses were needed to remove the manure, and those horses produced more manure.
The horses also pissed a lot - so much that London had to cancel an experiment with wooden pavements, as they would soak with the urine and the smell of ammonia became unbearable.
Even without wooden pavements the smell was bad tho - people would use handkerchiefs that they pressed to their faces to cope. Tall heels were used to trek through the layers of filth on the pavement.
The Horse Manure Issue was even debated in 1898 at the world’s first international urban planning conference in New York (New York also suffered from this problem), but no solution could be found. The problem ended only after cars were introduces as replacement for horse carriages and horse started to be slowly pushed out of cities.
Headcanon: Each and every Bit City Representative (so London, New York, probably Berlin, Moscow, Paris etc) smelled like horse manure in late 1800s/early 1900s. They tried to wash it out of their hair vigorously and HATED it, Paris would put tons of perfume on and cry, but there was no escaping it. They all smelled like manure.
With Nations themselves, not so much, as big cities are just a small part of the whole country. But my oh my was Arthur upset when he came to visit London and felt MANURE while they were having their classy, British fancy tea. Was Austria indignant when him and Vienna were playing the piano together, he sat to close and... MANURE! Was France freaking distraught when he went for a kiss on the cheek with his beloved, pretty Paris and... yeah you guess it. MANURE.They would all “discretely” cover their faces with a handkerchiefs and hoped their cities won’t notice, but of course they did.
Then they all meet up in New York in 1898 and had a serious Nation Discussion about Serious Nation Matters:
APH England: “We need to do something about our capitals SMELLING LIKE SHIT!” is how I’m imagining it going.
This is way funnier to me that it should be, sorry xD. I guess I have a sense of humor of a 12 years old boy. Poop... funny!

Heta oc week day 3: au
I love the cardverse au so I drew Paris. Not much to say about her other than that in the au she has a secret relationship with the princess of spades (London) even though the princess is betrothed to the princess of clubs (Moscow). I’ll expand on that in another post.
Le Caniche landed on a rooftop not far from the heroine, glowing blue eyes narrowed in anger and desperation. "Hero!" He roared, pulling the sharply studded collar from around his neck. "I had promised I would not fight those who do good, but I require your miraculous. Hand it over, and I'll do you no harm!" ~ask-miraculous-paris
Hong Long was resting on a rooftop, after a particularly distressing interviewee. She slowly raised herself to her feet, seeing another holder. Or was it? She’d heard whispers around town (gossip was quite her forte) of an akuma disguising themselves as a holder.
The poodle’s anger caused her to assume a defensive stance, keeping a neutral expression. Her interrogation would have to wait until later.
“Does that not make you a villain? I see you have lost your moral standing, and thus I will not hand over mine. You made a mistake in choosing your last resort.”
