12. “Can’t you see how fucked up this is?”

They were fighting. When weren't they fighting, really? Zim was an alien menace, a threat to mankind. It was Dib's job to stop him. He was Earth's only hope. Sure, their fights had gotten a bit sparser over the years. But that was just because of the onslaught of homework. They still helped hated each other.

Zim had grown less aggressive lately. It was strange, but that just meant more openings for Dib. He took pleasure in taking advantage of said openings.

Zim shot one of his legs at Dib. The human grabbed one of the PAK legs and tugged him forward. The green-skinned freak stumbled forward. Dib grabbed his stupid pink collar and used the leverage to throw him to the ground. Zim yelped as his head hit cement. Dib laughed, putting his knee to the Irken's chest to keep him down. He reached for the handcuffs in his pocket.

"Can't you see how fucked up this is?"

He had to admit, the words threw him off. Dib scowled, again going for his cuffs. "What are you talking about, alien freak?"

Zim gave a low cackle. "Don't tell Zim you don't know what I mean."

Dib frowned at the misuse of third person and the condescension. "You're the one pinned, asshole."

"I fight you, you fight Zim," the enby growled, "Round and round we go in this morbid little cycle. We both know there's no point. We both know that Zim was never going to conquer this heap of stink."

Dib bit his lip. He looked to the handcuffs, then back to the alien's bright red eyes. "What's your point?"

"Zim is no invader!" He cackled. Dib couldn't help but flinch at the volume. "YOU WERE THERE WHEN ZIM GOT THE CALL! YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE!"

"So what if I do?" Dib said with a glare. "You're still an alien."

"There is no point to our fighting!" Zim continued, ignoring Dib's words, "Why should we continue?!"

Dib blinked in surprise. He nearly dropped his cuffs. He gave the alien a glare. "NO."

Zim stared.

"NO. YOU'RE NOT TRICKING ME AGAIN!" A part of him shouted that this couldn't be a trick. Dib quickly muffled it. "YOU'LL NEVER TAKE EARTH! I'M GOING TO PROVE YOU'RE AN ALIEN!"

He secured the cuffs around Zim's slim wrists. The freak quickly broke them. "You're not listening."

Zim pushed him off. Dib quickly got back to his feet. The alien wasn't using his PAK legs. Didn't he say that he would die without that? A morbid idea came to his head.

Zim traipsed toward him. Dib grabbed his collar and threw him to the ground again. This time he landed on his face with a shout. Dib, in a rush of adrenaline, secured his hands around the PAK.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

Dib ripped it off.

Djdjjdbd I actually have a huge question based on your last peice. Which has my fricken heart. It's beautiful. But since your Zim's Dib is aging isn't he afraid of being alone? Or will they be cloning and adding Dibs memories in?

HNNGGG okay okay okay I was actually in the middle of figuring that out. The concept of Dib aging only hit me 30 seconds before drawing it. Tbh I really don't like to think about Dib dying and my Zim uhh not a fan of not having the og Dib. I feel like for years and years Zim tell's him he can make him something that will let him not age and live with him forever. I guess it would probably be similar to a pak?? At least tech ability wise. But Dib is like nah nah nah super weird man let me ripen a bit. He eventually does accept tech to lengthen his life span. This is all of course is if I was writing this particular story. I guess technically this is an au?

The way I think of it kinda is like the show I suppose. Like in all the years it ran between series and movie, it was like no time at all passed and everyone is permanently the same. So this is the "happy old married couple au"

Tldr Dib ain't ever dying cus Zim will never let him. 45 is the oldest he gets before Zim intervenes
