Actually, that's a common misconception thanks to a Disney trivia game. The creators of Beauty and the Beast, however, have stated that they never had a name for him planned. He was always "The Beast" or "The Prince" during it's creation. Also, if you ask any Disney employee, they will say that Adam is not his name.
