Why is it when we reach our mid-twenties that everyone assumes they know how to dictate our lives better than we do? Not everyone HAS TO have kids. Not everyone HAS TO get married.
i’ve started to believe that these are people who followed the standard life-path in their youth, like: get job, get married, buy house with white picket fense, have 2.5 children, but they didn’t think about it. they didn’t really deeply consider whether or not it was what they wanted. and now they’re offended that someone has thought deeply about it.
or they’re just...super-convinced that only their way lies True Happiness. ugh.

It's annoying, I've finally convinced my mother to stop saying, "when you finally have kids." Although she catches herself and says if instead of when.
i’m sorry; my mom was like that, too. i’m lucky in that my dad doesn’t care, and ultimately, my SO’s mom will get over it. (something about logically, she knows it’s our choice as a couple and wouldn’t interfere with that, but she’s still going to “grieve” that her son won’t get the chance to be a father...like, talk to him about that, lady. he’s not sold on kids either.) but it’s...hurtful? when people seem so hung up on you having kids, i guess? as if my entire purpose, the only worthwhile thing i could do, would be to bear children. like no other contribution to society would be enough, like my existence is pointless without this particular action.
which we all know is bullshit, but these people. they really seem to believe it.

She likes to sleep in flowerpots, or flowerbeds, whichever is more accessible. She drinks my coffee (and has shown preference to Caramel Vanilla Cream over Pumpkin Spice), watches Doctor Who, brings me the same dead rodent several times before getting another dead rodent, steals replica Saxon jewellery off of tables, and doesn’t seem to mind wearing ribbons.

That’s a decent theory, but it’s a graphics input tablet, not a tablet computer. I use it for doing art in photoshop, ie. my job, so as you can imagine it gets ignored a lot.
It took five days of doing absolutely NOTHING else but I finally managed to read the entire blog. Not sure if I'm proud or ashamed of myself.
