Den Helder is a town and also a municipality in the very northernmost tip of The Netherlands. It is located in the Province of North Holland. It is known as a holiday resort with good beaches, that is very popular with Dutch tourists. Den Helder is also the main base for the Dutch Royal Navy. There's a direct train from Amsterdam to Den Helder. Once you're in Den Helder you may wandering around by bus. If you are going to be travelling by bus in Den Helder then you will need an ov-chipcaart to pay your fare with. It is a small plastic card that can be bought from stations and topped up with credit. Keukenhof is one of the biggest flower gardens in the world  and owns its popularity to the vast number of tulips and tulip displays that paint it into a rainbow of flowers every year between April and May. It is the highlight of the yearly Dutch tulip festival and people flock here from all over the world to see its incredible flowers: each spring, the garden received over 7 million bulbs that blossom into its outdoor displays and 4 indoor pavilions. If tour groups aren’t your thing then you can always rent a bike and explore the tulip fields around Keukenhof yourself! Keukenhof is one of the largest outdoor gardens in the world and is certainly one of the most beautiful. Keukenhof draws about 800,000 visitors during the eight weeks it’s open every year. It is located in Lisse, which is a small town between Amsterdam and Den Haag. Lisse is pretty much known for tulips as it’s also home to many tulip fields. As the Keukenhof Gardens sprawl over a huge 32 hectares, it is a good idea to plan your route in advance. This is so you don’t miss out on any of the amazing fountains, sculptures, pavilions and, of course, flowerbeds that lie along its 10 miles of hiking trails. Make sure to pick up a map at the entrance. Kindly visit to this park between mid-March and mid-May. This is the only time of year that the park is open as this is when the flowers are in bloom. As the weather and temperature understandably vary from year to year, it is well worth checking if the flowers are in bloom before you visit.
