Remember when we all used to collect water skiing patches and put them on our jackets? Stew McDonald's was probably the most famous - not sure if he had this one... I remember this tournament well, had a brand new trick (toe 360) in my arsenal, tried it first trick, first pass, fall, tried it again opening of second pass, fall - score ZERO! Tradition??? Back in the old AWSA days there was the tradition of tossing the winner into the water. (Being carried on today by the NSSA when the entire winning team rushes into the water.) But this picture confuses me, the two "tossers," Alfredo Mendoza & Samuel Zamudio are both winners, not sure who or why the "tossee" is being tossed... I grew up across the street from the Aqua Bowl, home of the Min-Aqua Bats. In the summer we skied there, in the winter we skated. The middle skiers in the photos, Pete Abraham jumping and Dick Herbert between the girls, came to the Gardens in the fall of 1952 for the filming the movie, "Easy To Love." Pete returned home the next Spring, Dick stayed, making his new home Winter Haven, Fla. There was a storm blowing over Gensokyo this day and even the Misty Lake was subjected to it. It was difficult to make out any sound beyond the hard falling rain and the howling winds, but there was one noise that could be heard through it all:

“aaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!”

Daiyousei had gotten caught in the sudden winds and was now tumbling uncontrollably through the air. She probably could stabilise if she focused but there was no way that was going to happen while the wind was pushing her around like this.

“What’s that I see?” What indeed, travelling along the path of the misty lake en route to meet a certain person for further discussions of a play she spotted someone. Someone small, but were they small just due to distance or were they actually very tiny. Only on further approaching could she tell who it really was at the edge of the water.
