When Gem hears the jingling of Mumbo’s keys and his fumbling with the lock on his front door, she doesn’t think. She grabs Grian and shoves him through the closest door she can see. It’s a cramped closet with the water heater but Mumbo has finally gotten the lock unstuck—Gem doesn’t have the time to wish for a better hiding space. She hurries in after Grian, pulling the door closed right as Mumbo pushes the front door open.

3. favourite overall alliance/team up?

i gotta preface this by saying i've only seen session 1-3 of third life and none of last life, as i joined the fandom as double life was airing. so I'm gonna have to ignore third and last life for this and just look at double life, limited life, and secret life. and hmm...

in double life my favourite dynamics were definitely the divorce quartet (even though their entire thing was basically the fact that they weren't teaming up)

in limited life, there were so many good teams. like, TIES for one. and the mean gills were fantastic. and i loved the nosy neighbours. and the bad boys. honestly the only team i wasn't sold on were the clockers tbh. but my favourite from limited life?? hmm... i might have to go with TIES

and then i know secret life has just started and we don't really have many teams yet and don't know how they'll go. but i already adore gem and the scotts (or the cherryblossoms, as skizz wants them rebranded) and also the mounders. actually, as much as I love gem and the scotts (and i love them so much you don't understand) i think im gonna have to go with the mounders. i just love the energy of mumbo copying bdubs's horrible house and convincing pearl to build a dirt hemisphere and pearl rolling with it. and joel is also there? theyre so endearing to me.

so now if we pit divorce quartet vs TIES vs mounders... first of all wow they're technically all teams of four. and now i'm wanting to go back and say gem and the scotts beat all of them despite me only just picking mounders over gem and the scotts??? i have no clue honestly. there's some really good teams in here thats for sure!!

thank you!! i really enjoy it bc like... to me, the most compelling thing about c!emduo is their unwavering loyalty to one another, and that loyalty exists because (even if the exact details of their backstory is more implied/word of god so far) they’ve known each other a very long time and have proven themselves to have the other’s back. also this is my techno bias but like, obvs, ctechnoblade’s story is one based on repeatedly being used and betrayed, and i rlly love that phil is the One person he completely trusts not to do that to him 

....but i’m Also a person who likes pulling open what’s compelling about a character or dynamic. im not really trying to do anything profound or saying i have some Deeply Intellectual take, it’s... more like i’m picking up a rock i found to see what bugs are crawling around underneath, you know? you can absolutely see that in my last two techno-centric fics, too, actually. ive been doing vivisections of techno’s execution for months for what it has to say about techno’s character. 

(funnily enough, the things i have in my drafts other than traitor phil boil down to another two techno studies (i just... love him) and a peer pressure duo study, now that i think about it...) 

anyway! emerald duo, in this au, have no history at all, and they start their friendship off specifically with phil intending to betray techno. the fic, however, works towards them getting that same unquestioned faith in each other that they have in canon. the whole fic is just me getting to ask “what about each other are they loyal to?” esp from phil’s end. where does that loyalty come from and why? what is it phil especially sees in his friend that makes them so close? 

which is a really fun question to ask, and i’m enjoying it a lot

So about the requests I was wondering if maybe a Genie!Katsuki AU? In my head he looks like a human, but has gold marks and lines in his skin and when he uses his powers his eyes turn into gold. In my AU his owner is Izuku! I really love your drawings, they are amazing! I would be really happy if you accept the request but if it is too much it's fine. 👀💕
