Always enjoyed window shopping at Don Don Donki, looking at what new Japanese stuffs they have for sale. This Kirara Caviar & Sea Urchin Flavoured Cheese Rice Cracker (S$2) caught my eye, so in it goes into the shopping basket. The rice cracker or arare (あられ) comes filled with a luxurious blend of caviar and sea urchin-infused cheese cream. It is said to be enhanced with savoury bonito powder for a unique flavour profile though all I get is the soy sauce taste typical of these types of rice cracker products. But if you were to ask me if I can taste the caviar and uni flavours, all I can detect is some umaminess, that is all I can say. Would I buy it again? Probably not.

Quiet snowy day mood for this outfit, pairing a flowery yukiwa (snowflake) obi, with a serene kimono depicting yukimochi nanten (snow-covered nandina/heavenly bamboo).

The arare (lit. hail) ground of the kimono look like falling snow - very chic!

Here is how to tell Yuki, Arare & Mizore (the osaka aquarium ringed seals) apart :)

Yuki

Yuki is all round much darker and has the most spots, her belly is very spotted unlike Arare & Mizore she was very wide eyes with a constant O_O expression

Arare (also spelt at arale)

Arare’s spots aren't as bold, her underbelly has less spots thank Yuki & is lighter than both yuki and Mizore. note the bold stripe on her back.

Mizore

Mizore looks a lot like his mum (Arare) but he is more single toned in colour, his spots aren’t as bold & his underbelly isn't as light as arares. he usually has more squinty eyes than the other two.
