     @metalsuits sent ' trouble ' for a worrisome starter.

           She was supposed to be having a normal conversation. Talking about her research, trying to get someone --- really anyone --- to invest in her.  But what she didn't expect was the same face that had ben snooping around her lab to pop up. Subconsciously, she shifts so that her small figure could be hidden behind the man. Jane was notorious for being overprotective of her work, & this was one of those scenarios.   ❝    Just keep talking. I'll stand right here. --- I don't trust that guy who just came in.    ❞    Where she is now, she can see the man who's been in her lab, tinkering around with her stuff when she wasn't around.

"so, hm, space, huh ?" he is GREAT at small talk

         Her eyes shift to the man as he makes the simple question. A smile plays at her lips. It was a brave attempt at conversation, she couldn't deny it. It's more than most people would attempt. There's a little shake of her head as she finally goes to answer him.    ❝    Space is interesting. So is everything else in it. After all,    ❞    & she's made the decision to test him. Most people would give up when she makes this choice: the info dump choice. She was kind of eager to see if he'd stick around to finish the conversation after this.          ❝    Within all this space is not only different worlds, but different timelines. In fact, not only different timelines, but there also is most likely alternate universes. In that one, there's probably another Steve Rogers. He might talk like you, look like you, all of that, but he might never become Captain America. He might live a whole different life than you do. It's really interesting actually, based my thesis on it. --- So space, huh?     ❞

“a little white lie here and there can’t hurt, don’t you think?” he would always prefer to be told the truth, an inquisitive mind that would rather know more than less, but it doesn’t mean he can’t see the benefit of withholding or blurring the facts. though he might be trying to rationalise his lies to bill about how he spends his time.

“if we’re gonna go we gotta go tonight,” he feels desperate and a little pathetic as he stands in the rain on electra’s doorstep with her hands in his own. his beat up ford anglia still running behind him as he pleads for her to come with him.

“it’s definitely a struggle,” he says with a chuckle, looking over the top of his book and towards the young girl. reading wasn’t his favourite hobby, but he had found that it did help quiet his mind when nothing else would. “i figured reading would be something you’d enjoy.” he wasn’t sure where the assumption had come from beyond his belief that most people liked reading.
