Also, the Politico article that exposed Cardinal Dolan (NY) as convincing Paul Ryan to take the Speakership has got to be against canon law somewhere. Bishops should NOT be interfering in such matters.

<p>Cardinal Timothy Dolan had a long record of homophobia and transphobia. His successor, Ronald Hicks, has a mixed record on LGBTQ+ issues,

Last week I wrote a post about Archbishop Dolan being made a Cardinal and about seeing him at World Youth Day this past summer in Madrid. Well, His Eminence was back at New York's iconic St. Patrick's Cathedral for Ash Wednesday and for special welcoming celebrations this past weekend.
Thanks to Rocco Palmo at Whispers in the Loggia for this very moving, deeply profound, and surprisingly personal video of Cardinal Dolan's homily for the 1st Sunday of Lent.
(Note: the main part of his homily begins at 5:30.)
"[It's] all about God; it's not about me. It's all about Jesus and His Church; it's not about me. It's His dominion; it's not mine. It's His Kingdom; it is not ours. It is His will not mine that needs to be done. And to Him and Him alone be the honor and the glory."

Catholic Underground, tonight!
I'm excited. I haven't gone since last year, and its always nice to see so many adults come to the city for adoration together!! And tonight, Archbishop Dolan is doing it!! I'm ready for Your grace, Lord (: Bring it on!
The Great Commission
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." - Mt. 28:19-20
My notes on Archbishop Dolan's homily for Mass at the Love & Life Center on Aug. 19, 2011 in Madrid, Spain (WYD'11):
"The Great Commission" is the last command JESUS gave to his disciples before He ascended into Heaven. His very last words on Earth. When someone speaks their last words, we usually pay attention.
James and Peter paid attention to JESUS. They went forth: James to Spain, Peter to Rome. Now, we - the LORD's humble disciples - are gathering back in Spain with St. Peter's successor, Pope Benedict. WOW!
"The Great Commission" is a vocation of invitation.
What makes a good invitation?
1. FREE!
No compulsion, just love.
We are called to know, love and serve GOD in this life and be happy with Him in the next.
An invitation never imposes, only proposes
2. Believe it is well worth their time.
it will nourish & sustain, be fun, uplifting, noble, & liberating. It affirms the good.
3. I'm going to be there, too!
no room for hypocrites
we must be burning passionately with love for JESUS CHRIST and His Church
4. Don't give up!
if they don't RSVP, follow up
don't nag, don't drive them crazy
*There is no better way to spend your life an as a disciple of JESUS CHRIST and His Church!!!
*St. Paul
one of the greatest evangelists
lived so passionately for a man he had never even met, never even shook His hand
Mary appeared to him and thanked him for once again giving flesh to her Son's body.

Archbishop Dolan...
... describes something that happened at last week's US bishops' meeting.
But the most productive session came on Friday morning. As usual, we began with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. But then we gathered as the Blessed Sacrament was placed in the monstrance on the altar. There we prayed: morning prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours; silence; an excellent conference by a brother bishop; silence; opportunity for confession; and closing Benediction.
It was, in my mind, the most productive part of our meeting. Nearly two hundred bishops, on their knees, in silent prayer, before Jesus, really and truly present in the Holy Eucharist.
As I tip-toed out of the room to stand in line for confession, I heard two of the young hotel workers chatting.
“It’s sure quiet in there,” whispered one of them. “What are they doing?”
“It’s weird,” replied the other. “They’re not doing nothing. They’re all just kneeling there quietly looking at this flat piece of bread in this fancy gold holder.”
He almost got it right . . . except that we believe, with all our heart and soul, that it’s not a “flat piece of bread,” but the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ, really and truly present in the Sacrament of His Body and Blood.
Too cool. Looking forward to celebrating Corpus Christi this weekend?
