I know a lot of people criticize the arrival DLC because it does not give the player a choice about whether or not to prevent the destruction of the batarian mass relay, but I love it for that very reason. There's only a few instances of absolute sacrifice in the vanilla trilogy where Shepard is even given a choice in the matter (Thane dies regardless of your actions, legion dies regardless of your actions, their sacrifices are contained within their character, same as Anderson and Miranda and Mordin) but the Arrival DLC doesn't give you a choice. It doesn't let you compromise the greater good for your own peace of mind. I think it's a great illustration of how impossible decisions dont have good solutions, but inaction is ultimately worse.
