alli’s Arrow 1x08 rewatch thoughts
Dig’s psychoanalysis of Oliver regarding his need to save/fix Helena is so dead on, and he has every right to be pissed at him for trusting her so quickly. I mean, like I said in my episode 7 recap, I get that it seems Helena shouldn’t be beyond redemption, but it’s still totally rude of Oliver to bring Dig in, fail to listen to his advice, and then introduce unnecessary risk by casually letting Helena into the foundry and letting her meet Dig. I’m actually surprised Dig didn’t just up and leave for good at this point.
OH. THANK. GOD. FOR. FELICITY. She is so exactly what Oliver needs and he doesn’t even realize it. ^_^
I have always thought that Helena overreacted to the Oliver/Helena Tommy/Laurel double-date. I mean, Helena was the one who invited Merlance to join them for dinner, and Oliver did protest. And she accuses Oliver of still being in love with Laurel, but honestly he seemed to be behaving fine. And yeah, she’s the ex-girlfriend he told her about, but it’s not like he got a chance to tell her that. I can see Helena being a bit uncomfortable and bringing it up later with Oliver, but I don’t see cause for her to go storming off, and definitely not cause for her to give up on the entire “new way of doing things” that Oliver was showing her. I guess, disappointingly, the most logical explanation is that she truly has “gone over the edge.”
Eeee! Dig’s “Love isn’t about changing or saving a person...you opened up, took a risk...and when you meet the right person, you’ll be ready for her” speech is just the best. (And Oliver does that adorable laugh!)
AND THEN WE CUT TO FELICITY. :)
