alli’s Arrow 1x09 rewatch thoughts

- Clearly the takeaway from this episode is that Oliver thinks Felicity is remarkable

- Oh hey Adam Hunt. And goodbye Adam Hunt!

- Something that has always struck me about later seasons of Arrow is how much they emphasize all the killing that Oliver did in season 1. But watching season 1, I actually find very little evidence of Oliver killing. (Granted, even one person is one person too many, but still.) In the later seasons they always make it seem like he was “dropping bodies left and right,” while during season 1, they frequently mention that Oliver only kills as a last resort. And here Dig even just said he imagines that Oliver’s on St. Nick’s “nice” list. Just a thought. I mean, season 1 Oliver is certainly lost in darkness, etc., but he’s not this complete monster that they basically characterize him as in seasons 4,  5, and 6.

- Cue the season 1 Oliver and Laurel will they/won’t they. (Spoiler alert: they won’t.)

- (Oh, and you know, Merlyn as the Dark Archer. Is there any way Arrow can ever have a better villain arc than the arc of season 1? I mean, even season 2 was not as shocking and riveting. I dunno, maybe it’s just not possible anymore. I agree with those of you who are saying you’d like to see a return to the villain-of-the-week format.)

- And...how have I never noticed that Felicity called Walter to ask about Oliver?? “Thank you Felicity, it was good of you to call, but Oliver’s going to be fine. He’s already on the mend.” SHE TOTALLY CALLED WALTER TO CHECK ON HIM!! (I guess the fact that Walter gets kidnapped immediately after is kinda a show-stealer which explains why I never really noticed before?).
