🌷 : TALL TALE TULIP . . . what is something someone told you as a child that you still partially believe? are you able to have your feet uncovered in bed without thinking a under-the-bed-demon will drag you under? do you let your friends "split the pole"?
when elle and i were little, our parents used to tell us that seeing a ladybug was a sign that someone who had passed was watching over us. now, even years later, seeing one randomly is a tender reminder of that residual love and protection. it’s small and silly, but i still choose to believe it.
🎀 : CLASSIC BOW . . . what do you love about life? do you love hearing the morning birds signing to you as you sit on the porch? do you enjoy partying too much and not remembering it in the morning? or maybe just hanging out with the people you love?
first and foremost: coffee. i practically ran on coffee during my college years in that reality, and working at a coffee shop down the street from metropolis university did not help that obsession. oliver bought an espresso machine for his place when i started staying over there instead and it makes mornings so much more manageable.
i have slowly (and unhappily) weaned off of coffee in favor of green tea, and it has helped my anxiety and stress drop so much more than i expected. honestly, my life there is pretty domestic (aside from fighting crime), but one of my favorite moments is always sunrise on rooftops or on oliver’s deck. from time to time, oliver will call me to meet him at his place to watch the sunrise, and he always has a hot mug of tea ready. it’s such a soft and peaceful way to enjoy the early hours of the morning, when the rest of the city hasn’t fully woken up and you can hear the birds chirping at each other.
🩰 : DYNAMIC DANCE . . . who is the one person that is the complete opposite of you? are you two friends? why are they the complete opposite of you? what mannerisms do they have that conflict with yours?
oliver and i are… very strong opposites. but you know what they say— opposites attract! we’ve been a chaotic pairing since we were younger, and that duality has only brought us closer as the years passed. now, as a couple, we are a bit more grounded in our identities and less scrambled. our differences are what strengthen our love— where he is an extrovert, i am an introvert. he’s a night owl, i am an early bird (thankfully our hours overlap). he is more street smart, i am more book start. one of the mannerisms that has always caused us to butt heads is his stubbornness and impulsivity; he has a tendency to not fully think things through, and it can get so stressful. he throws himself in the line of fire or in the middle of a dangerous situation quite often, and i am the one who heals him or patches him up. even then, we’ve always complimented each others personality and it’s provided a unique balance, one that brings both of us out of our comfort zones and encourages us to see life from a different perspective.
