Wally comes back a few years after the Finale, to find that Artemis has moved on and is dating Kaldur.
When Wally faded, he couldn’t help but think about Kaldur.
Kaldur, who had never dated Tula, but had been such good friends with her and had it so bad for her that he seemed to be a broken man upon her death. Kaldur, who seemed to have trouble letting go.
He prayed that Artemis would be able to move on and be happy. He prayed she wouldn’t be broken beyond repair by his demise; she didn’t deserve that.
So when Wally came back to see Artemis and Kaldur dating and happy, he didn’t have it in him to be mad. Wally had been gone for years; and with Artemis and Kaldur, dating, happy, whole, and being there for each other; well, Wally couldn’t help but wish them the best.
And, although it took a while to get over it, Wally soon found a new girl in Central City by the name of Linda Park.
At least, in the end, everything worked out.
