I love this place: Artist Point. Landscape artist Thomas Moran's paintings of it captured a scene so lovely that it helped to convince the U.S. congress that this sprawling space out west needed government protection... at this time very few out east had seen the area that is now Yellowstone National Park; from early descriptions, many didn't believe the fantastical nature of Yellowstone could be real. As the Yellowstone River flows out of Yellowstone Lake on its way to join the Missouri River it passes thru an area known as the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. This is the view from a place in it known as Artist's Point.
