The woman in the mirror visited me again today, Mama. She looks different each time. I meant to make noodles today but all I got to boil was my blood in my body so cold. I blame it on all of the electricity in me, all the bulbs over my head should be lit, but instead I'm afraid I will turn into lightning and strike, Mama. No, it doesn't mean I get more done, Mama, it means I start more than depression allows me to finish. I grow hands out of my mouth made for reaching but they never make it past my lips. Yesterday I mistook my mind for my tongue; I called out your name for half an hour and wondered why you never came. The TV must have blocked out the waves. I know telepathy isn't really a thing, Mama. I know every body has moods, Mama. No need to see a doctor for Moods, Mama. But tell me, do you have a landlord called depression with a wife called anxiety and a dog called trauma that pisses on your carpet every chance it gets? I know, Mama, I used to light up like a Christmas tree, but my landlord not only pulled the plug, he cut down the whole goddamn thing. But I still got my hands in the socket, Mama, sometimes I am the socket. I am a volcano with a lid and a snooze button depression has got its hands on. I cut my tongue on a poem and it won't stop bleeding, Mama. In my head there is a karaoke machine playing and the little indicator is jumping back and forth between the words, meaning nothing I think makes any sense. Yesterday I didn't make it out of bed, Mama.
